And the ****e scrape through on penalties. Shame.
Good on the part-time snackfood for taking them all the way, though.

Think they qualified for europe via the fair play league....and have had 2 players sent off in their last 2 games <laugh>

I know they've generally been playing youth & fringe players, but their performances in the Europa, from what I've heard at least, have been very poor. They're scraping through games against very average opposition and haven't been playing good football. If they continue that way into the season, then Bilic will have his work cut out for him.

NSMEB mentioned Milner as someone that could help out defensively but I don't think that's true. For a start I remember him going off against the USA having made more fouls than he had touches of the ball! He's a hard worker, like Henderson, but neither are really suited to breaking up attacks, you want them on the ball, moving it forward.

He offers a bit more cover in midfield defensively than most in the Pool midfield. As he gets older I think he will be used more to shield the back four and take some pressure of the defence. He is not that bad defensively. Our defence looked shot to pieces in AVB's early days when there was no-one to shield the defence and the simple measure of adding that type of player helped no end (though not enough)!

They're muddling through again with players that aren't actually suited to the job, just like last season with Gerrard. Maybe they'll compensate for that with loads of goals, like the 13-14 season but I doubt it. I like Milner and have always said he's a good player but if Rodgers thinks he'd do well shielding the defence he's in for a shock.

Yep, that's Paulinho being on the winning side against Bayern. Scored one of the penalties, too.

Well done, Paulinho. Being a highly paid star and pioneer in a new market suits him, somehow.

Bastian Schweisteiger was injured playing against San Jose, and won’t play tomorrow against Barca. Van Gaal has implied that he will start the team that will play Spurs.

Man U will pay Schweinsteiger 40 million in wages if he sees out his contract. I realize he’s one of the great players of our time, but...

Early days.

And his experience in the dressing room is invaluable.

Agreed. I wouldn’t be sharpening my knife if he looked to be building a champion in a purposeful way.

Well, that’s not true at all. But I wouldn’t say he reminded me of
