Saint I'm a real badass with 50 of my friends backing me Gerrard was excellent today. Mourinho did look like a badly hungover guy rummaging through his refrigerator looking for bacon. Does anybody want to win this thing? City, Chelsea, City again and now Liverpool have all switched off the inside track recently.
Totally agree. Both goalkeepers have been outstanding. Who ever pucks up Marshall at the end of the season is gonna be getting a bargain.
No Utd or Arsenal players in the PTOY team. When did that last happen? For all his goalscoring feats this season, is Sturridge really a better player than Aguero or Rooney - both of whom have scored and assisted plenty of goals this season too? How does Lallana get in when Silva doesn't?
In one of the rare occurrences of Alan Sherarer talking sense, this is exactly what he said on MOTD2 last night. 1990, in the case of Man Utd.
It's far from scientifically done so there's no point taking it too seriously. They don't even wait until near the end of the season to do the voting so it's no surprise Sturridge is in there, he would've been on his scoring run at the time players were voting. Personally I'd say the PL 11 for this season should be: Lloris; Zabaleta, Terry, Mertesacker, Azpiliqueta; Toure, Ramsey; Sterling, Silva, Hazard; Suarez. You can pick pretty much anyone at fullback as no one stands out and whilst there are big names missing out I think that's a fair list of the best players who've lived up to expectations and those who might not normally be considered amongst the best but have had outstanding seasons that put them up there with the best.
Cech hasn't even been the best keeper on Chelsea's books. The other one isn't eligible though, admittedly.
Very surprised Kosicleny didn't get into the TOTY. As much as I despise anyone one of those scummy fake North Londoners, he's had a pretty good season - certainly better than Kompany. Cech being in there is surely just down to the fact he has a great defence in front of him which results in many clean sheets, I don't know what the clean sheet league is like this season but I'd presume Chelsea are right up there. Marshall should've had it hands down though, Cardiff would've been relegated in January if it weren't for him!
Don't tell me Lloris wants to join Arsenal so he can revert back to his French language! p.s.Berbatov scored two for Monaco and they may be giving him a bigger contract....... p.p.s.Do all these "imports" have to attend language schools while playing for foreign clubs or does everyone speak English?
Koscielny definitely. I happen to really dislike Sturridge. But is goals to games record is brilliant. Suarez (POTY) Sturridge Hazard Silva Toure Stirling Zabaleta Kompany Koscielny Azpilicueta Lloris I don't think I've seen enough of other keepers, but I do know Lloris has been very good, certainly better than Cech. I didn't like naming Kompany, but I couldn't stand the thought of Terry or a second Arsenal CB, and I'm not that impressed with Cahill. I can't stand Sturridge, but considering he missed a big chunk of the season, 20 goals gets him in.
Dunno wots sadder....our sorry arsed season or goons reduced to celebrating finishing 2 places above us when they were title contenders in march
I guess the Goons are taking their wives and girlfriends (or both) out for dinner to celebrate (?).Hope they've got enough MacDonalds coupons!
Pretty much agree with that. Although, it doesn't feel right leaving Coleman out. He's been outstanding too.
Unfortunately, there's still the cup final to come - which, again unfortunately, The goons will probably win and be only too smug about reminding us that they've finally won something. I would love to see Hull stuff 'em though. I think I might literally piss myself laughing!....
Let the Goons revel in it, we'd only do something similar if we were in their position. Though we can take some form of "consolation" from this scenario, Arsenal were (supposedly) challenging for league honours where as after the first couple of months we knew we were in for a **** season and it's taken them 'til the 36th game of this campaign to seal 4th place and ensure we can't finish above. If Hull can beat them in the final, as doubtful as it'll be, it'd leave a wry smile on my face it must be said.
