Radamel Falcao will join Chelsea on loan from [HASHTAG]#ASMonaco[/HASHTAG] for a loan fee of €7m with an option to purchase for €50m. [HASHTAG]#CFC[/HASHTAG] (via @Antena2RCN)

@MichaelBridge_: Transfer deadline day on 1st September will close at 5pm next season instead of 11pm. [HASHTAG]#transfers[/HASHTAG] [HASHTAG]#skydeadlineday[/HASHTAG]

So 33% less than what Man Utd got ripped off for

Depends how you look at it. Monaco will deal in Euros and as the pound has strengthened in recent months buying players from abroad is now cheaper. When United signed Falcao for the season they paid £6million which at the time equated to €7.2million. Now that the pound is stronger, the €7million the Chavs are paying equates to £5.2million. Currency fluctuations impact all international businesses. For example, you paid an eye watering £16million for the Single League Goal Striker. At the time that was about €20million. Had Brenda had his mad moment this summer instead of last summer that €20million would equate to £15million ie a £1million saving on the inevitable loss when you offload the useless twonk. Liverpool's main issue with the SLGS is that not only has his resale value dipped dramatically but they will also have to sell him to a European club as no club in England will touch him. So if they manage to convince an Italian club to pay €5million for him that will equate to £3.75million. Had the currencies remained static they would have seen a return of just over £4million.

The good news is that when you next have to go overseas after Liverpool lose a game your GBP will go further.

Also you could do your own research about how currency fluctuations impact football transfers and specifically the value of the SLGS and do a nice graph to keep you entertained over the summer until Liverpool start their Europa League campaign against Vilja Plopov.

I wouldn't doubt it if clubs were hedging against currency volatility. It might not even matter to some of them as they'd win their investments and lose the transfer fee battle or vice versa.

let me calrify..

in 1999 a player would cos oh one pound 50p... in other words it is utterly irrelevant.

The only places it is relevant is the ECB has been buying government bonds in europe so the euro has devalued by 20% at least.

Ergo spanish clubs buying from english clubs is more difficult...

Its really simple. this summer buy in europe you get a bonus if you talk in euros. IF say oh inter are willing to bay 150k in euros to kovacic or 100k or whatever you like we pay him 20% less and we pay inter 20% less in sterling to give them teh same funny euro money price.

don't shop in england this summer if value is high across europe.... PROVIDED you can meet the 13 foreign player maximum dyke wants to bring in.... big issue for city this summer... sterling is therefore valuable.... and real will NOT be buying him.

£15m for a 31yr old with a history of serious injuries and who is out of favour at his current club, sounds about right to me
