Juve paying £32m for Buffon about fifteen years ago is still top isn't it?
Must be, 32m is a lot for back then, prob near enough to 50m in todays money. Was that Euros tho?
Buffon at that time was the undisputed No 1 keeper in the world at that time tho wasn't he?

Think Oliver Kahn and Peter Schmeical (sp) were still about. It was VDS he replaced at Juve I think. He was clearly the best upcoming keeper though.

Kahn won the award 2 years running when Buffon signed for Juve, 2001 2002, Buffon won the award 2003 and 2004 then 2006 and 2007, 4 out of 5 years.
Schemichel won it in 92 and 93. VDS has never won it
