Scholes is being a bit of a prick really. I know neville has to stand up and give it but you know he's still in the salford camp which is fine.... but f me Scholes is so bitter about him not having a coaching job or something cos he's not a good word to say about utd it seems...

however i didn't think that was any sort of melt by van gaal

this i found funny

Long-ball Manchester United?
Season (manager)
Long balls per game Premier League ranking
2014-15 (Louis van Gaal)

20.9

13th

2012-13 (Sir Alex Ferguson)

18.8

17th

2013-14 (David Moyes)

16.4

18th

the salford bbc are so desperate to show van gaal is not a lumper that have compared to moyes and showed bizarrely that ferguson's side lumped it long more than moyes.

how pointless is that....................

i mean seriously.... moyes team failed for a reason... no attacking play.... sideways and back passing then a hoof.. ferguson's side won the freaking league! (woeful standard of course) but van gaal is sort of just as good i suppose this stuff says.

Scholes as been speaking out since retiring as a player. I'm convinced the reason we hardly heard from him and he was regarded as a very quiet player is because Fergie knew he was a nob so kept him on a very short leash

Always wanted to use 'the wall' formation which is self-explanatory and set up in front of the goalie like so and contracts and expands as necessary to intercept the ball / stop the opposition

I don't want to get caught up in the current argument, but I think this is an interesting point.
You see, I'm not convinced that it is only points that matter. Of course if they win you a trophy you'll be happy to win it, but surely fans want their team to play well and be entertaining to watch, otherwise what's the point? It then comes down to bragging rights over rivals rather than a serious love of the game.
I feel the same when people say diving and cheating are acceptable because it's only winning that counts. I just don't agree with that and never will.
Being happy at winning even though you've played badly should have more to do with relief than pride.

Agreed, and the argument that "playing badly and winning is better than playing well and losing" is such bollox, why can't you do both?? But some ppl are also too thick to realise that playing sh1t is not the same as being a sh1t team. The league doesn't lie and however badly our performances are we have enough quality to get results.
On the point of diving, that's all very well, but until fans start picking up their own players on it there's no point criticising others or expecting things to change.

You can do both but playing badly and winning is always preferable to playing well and losing.

Until you get points for performances, its unlikely to ever change.

Its a good foundation to have. The difference between United, City chelsea and the rest of the league. Being tge winner despite not always being the better side.

That only applies if you don't have the players to play better though. I didn't like it under Fergie during the last couple of years but I could understand it with the lack of creativity in midfield. But not with LVG when he has the likes of Herrera, Di Maria and Mata. Then it becomes a poor argument I'm afraid. There's no reason why we can't play well and be winning.

One of the above yoonited fans is happy to let his club's cavalier attacking traditions die for the sake of results, it was that very thing that attracted those that have supported that club for decades.
Just like yoonited's style of play attracted the majority of its support it can also drive them away.

And Treble nobody said the yoonited team were ****e, weve said the tactics of the flawed genius are ****e and that the team has been playing ****e because of it, big difference there mate.

Theres every reason and you know full well what it is. Fergie had the strongest defence around so risk taking was a much easier choice. You knew if it went wrong rio and vidic would be waiting behind to clean up.

If the midfield messes up now, there may as well be nothing between the opposition and de gea.

So while Fegie had no midfield the risks were lower. van Gaal and every United fan have seen the risks. We know what happens when it goes wrong.

When you have little or no clue what you are talking about, its better to say nothing at all.

We've been playing aesthetically poor football for years. Under various managers and against all kinds of opposition.

Its nothing new. The difference between Fergie, van Gaal and Moyes is two of them know how to win regardless of the performance while the other had us giving up in every game we went 1 down in.

Anyone who enjoys performance over result is a very strange person. The whole idea of football flies right over their head.

Trying to suggest that United's fanbase is going to crumble off the back of winning games in a scrappy manner this season is absolutely preposterous

These same clowns are the ones who say our 2013 title (20th title for you Liverpool fans) was the worst ever because we played rubbish football and were bailed put by RvP.

How does that apply? We played some poor football in Fergie's last couple of seasons bcos of a poor midfield. We have a much better midfield now and are playing worse.

"This season"?

Stop making things up because you know I never said that, it was yoonited's style of play that attracted the masses, if they play crap for an extended length of time they could lose support.
