For a start they would have to make him the highest paid footballer in the world. Then they would need to raise Rooney's wages to match him as his contract demands.

Basically it would cost Man Utd upwards of £100m just for the contract, and about the same again in transfer fee.

On that basis I would love it to happen, but it just won't.

Not lost on me how they are OK with this kind of spending, when it's them and not City or Chelsea <whistle>
Exactly why they were so happy about PL FFP rules and in fact United worked hard to get them introduced. That's how they combated City :D and failed still

what all that forgets is chelsea have worked hard then anyone to be the top club under ffp and utd can shovel money about but it will eventually hit the limit for the 3 years. blow it all on bale please... he's going to get a bad back sooner or later same as ronaldo has tendonitis and will eventually fade badly.

Chelsea bought half the youth from Europe and 2 starting 11s to be the top FFP club, in short they benefitted from spending a billion on players before the rules were changed, and marketed the **** out of teh club in that time too after splurging, and that money was still in the club, and still they made no profit hardly after winning the CL and EL <yikes> Remember Jose primarily got sacked because of bitching over no money for signings, after what he spent ? RA wasn't about to tolerate dire football and whinging for another half a billion <yikes>

otherwsie they'd be worse off than City under FFP but for the fact they had a decade to get their club pumped up with Russian cash.

Yes that has been their tactic for sure. they have built a huge surplus of players in pre ffp and now in FFP times they will develop thier stadium and such to build revenue... btw if you look round all the indicators Chelsea have a bigger global following than LFC... reality check guys...

their billions spent has created a big big club, they made a profit after buying fabregas and costa and honesty there is some fine fine talent out there in their ranks to buy... lukaku went for as much as fabregas came for and luiz left for more than costa was bought for!!!

as of today

Astu
Bertrand
cuevas
Hazard
Kakuta
Kalas
Marin
Pasalic
Romeu
Traore
Van ginkel

and

wallace

(not including local lads and others)

are out on loan and realistically i can see 60-100 million pounds right there just being developed in the network of clubs cheslea has set up round europe.

Kalas hardly played at all for cheslea but when he came in against us he absolutely negated our SAS attack last season. Just an example.

Indeed, they did well, it was a solid plan and turned a largely unknown club into one of the biggest. The only think that is <doh> is when their fans criticise City for spending and FFP, which has kicked off again since City caught them up in the league this season <laugh>

a tad harsh given ken bates bankrupted them to win a number of cups including a european one.

however given their growth 95% of fans of chelsea today were not fans of chelsea 10 years ago <whistle> and the 5% that were... are the worst fo the lot :bandit:

did i insult enough of them do you think?

not too harsh, we won 5 European cups and are less of a force with newer fans around the world, history won't gain you new fans just progeny of existing fans mainly, big name players and winning trophies will. Unless you cound marketing in new areas like Asia ect
Most current Chelsea fans were probably not even aware of that European cup they won <whistle>

they were not mostly unknown given ruud guillet managing them amonst others... the beefy french cb and so forth desailly... they were basically chavs.... like dennis wise.

don't tell him but this is why he's never gotten a ban.. he's not good enough to wind enough up.... we've been reviewing all the banned members since the new forum came up and our mod (not breaking much of a confidence here) never even mentioned slapping the irons on ol uir.

Banned for Mito?

As for not winding anyone up <laugh> I dont even have to do anything to get some people on this site into an almighty rage :D

A mornings earnings for a big club like United <ok>

The irony being our Yanks have been splashing the cash whereas your Yank (sensibly) gave Brenda the Suarez money and some pocket change (all of which he wasted).

<laugh> they rob you of over £700m and you're grateful they buy a couple of rejects and loan in a crock <cheers>

I think you pretty much got 'em all with that one. <laugh>

I've got no problem with United spending £120m. But not on Bale or any other player <laugh> Hope we buy some CBs, at least one full-back or decent holding midfielder.

Could be worse. They could have wasted the money on a Balotelli or a Sakho or a Lallana or a Moreno or a Manquillo or a Lambert or a Markovic or a Borini...the list goes on!
