Not really, you DID buy 2 strikers in the summer, you just bought a back up striker (Lambert) which is fair enough, and a lazy douchebag in Balotelli.
You bought personnel, just the wrong personnel, but atleast Rodgers tried. Wenger and Van Gaal didnt even try to sign a CB, when they both so desperately needed one.

Sure Lambert was never more than a 3rd striker. He may even have been a 'necessary' in the negotiations for Lovren and Lallana. Whilst Rodgers admitted that Balotelli was a £16 million punt, he was bought to play as part of a front 2 with Sturridge - a role that he has only been able to fulfill for 20 minutes!

So Lambert has done what was expected of him when playing with a midfield that don't play to his strengths. Everybody knew about Balotelli's style but in the 20 minutes he did have with Sturridge there were signs that they could play with and off each other. Therefore your dismissal is more than just a little arrogant and probably wrong.

Lambert had fulfilled his role fine imo. He is a backup striker and has been utilised and performed as such.

All I said was unlike Wenger and LvG, Rodgers bought in the required areas, you lost a striker and bought two in. Mario just hasnt worked out as well as hoped.

United were in no place to reject anyone. I do not believe United approached him or Mourinho wanted to go there, Fergie picked Moyes and Chelsea chose Mourinho way before it was announced.

We told him no and he approached united. He wanted put of madrid so put himself about.


Im a big fan of jose, however the fact is United are famous for youth and a certain style. Van gaal who taught jose much of him man management skills offered more to us and was at the same level as jose.


No way of confirming any of this as nothing official qas ever done. Just the words of united and chelsea. Its pretty clear that jose wanted the job though. He practically forced himself on us at the madrid game.

I did try and offer a suggestion regarding Lambert's purchase. Plus many times last season we could have taken pressure off ourselves by having a big man up front to hold the ball and/or change the focus of attack.

So I'm wrong that Balotelli did not look promising at Spurs for the first 20 minuted then?

Promising is pushing it. He looked half decent for twenty minutes. Much like he's looked good on average once in every ten or so games throughout his career. I'm still waiting for his good game for us as twenty minutes doesn't cut it for me.

Exactly. Dont expect any chelsea fan to understand this. Their win at all costs attitude goes much further back than roman and jose. They have always beem a club willing to destroy itself for a trophy or two.
