Where's the upset? Your club has been shafted as your desperation has become clearer worldwide. So now you've added some 'star' names to an already lob-sided team sheet and failed to address your midfield and defensive problems.

Now then let's look at the Salmondesque logic you apply to spending. Now your 14th in the table. Your club have been forced to spend £150 million to try and make up for the neglect that has led you to your present lowly position in the league. Whereas, we are in 5th place with Champions League football to come so our spending is bearing paying-off.

How much did it cost to get you back into the Champions League? ****loads and no title to show for it. That must be teeth grindingly annoying as now you've got there you've had to settle for bringing in bang average squad players!

I'll agree with you if we're still above them by that many places (or a bit less!) nearer x-mas, but they're only 4 points behind us. Comments like that may come back to bite you in the arse later in the season. They might not, but they might. <ok>

Mount Vesuvius might erupt - but then it may not! We have already shown that there is life after Suarez and that we can be successful. All United have shown is that they are presently worse than last season. Their new players MAY help them improve - ours have already shown that they WILL.

Doesn't bother me at all. I can sleep happy with the prospect of United waiting another 20+ years for a title.

I'm as positive as the next fan, but I don't think you can say we are going to do really well this year and Man Utd are going to be as bad as last season. At least, not yet. I honestly think Man Utd will have a sputtering start but will have a really strong second half of the season. I think they will be very close to us at the end of the season. However, so long as we can get top 4 again, I'm not really bothered where Utd finish.

I'm truly not wanting to pick a fight here but how can you allow yourself to post "but I don't think you can say we are going to do really well this year and Man Utd are going to be as bad as last season" I take the opposite view and therefore have as much right to state my opinion - which you appear to want to deny me from stating for some reason.

Now for all their spending I don't think that they will be any closer to us than last season at best.

With their current transfer strategy of packing the squad with average players, a very long time!

I bet you were proper ****ting yourself towards the end of last season wasn't you NOF? Was you one of the ones that claimed we'd be out of the race by Christmas too? <laugh>

I never thought you'd do as well as you did last season and was delighted when it all blew up. Fortunately Suarez did the inevitable and facked off.

I think its sad that you see that as such a good thing really. I always want to see the best players in the PL. I didn't like C.Ronaldo and I can't say I complained about you guys losing a player of his quality but it was a shame such a skillful and entertaining player was leaving the league. Same goes for Robben when he left Chelsea.

Mancs don't care about football, that's why they also have no idea how much we are all buzzing to watch some of the greatest football in the world week in week out (excpet for international breaks) and think they can WUM with talk about how long since we won a title <ok>

one feels talking to dave is akin to talking to phil thompson.... you know he aint going to be anything other than red through and through to the detriment of viewpoint. hence Phillo is perfect for soccer Saturday but no good for punditry.

Merson, hates lfc and lets it be known every time he is on.... charlie Nicholas looked a right state yesterday on deadline day and he's another like this.

However garry neville utterly perversely given his favored team and well known antagonistic approach as a player is capable of unbiased concise punditry and analysis.

I'd like to think that this thread could have both but it feels like gillette soccer saturday constantly on here.... oh and tobes blunders in like chris kamara <ok>

I think a bit of carra v neville style actual real debate would be nice sometimes.

Don't be sad. You get to watch Falcao this season!
