  • Premier League

  • Champions League

  • FA Cup

  • League Cup

  • As much as Everton and Spurs!

Mirror -
Manchester City kicked off their pre-season tour to Australia with a win over Melbourne City - but it wasn't all good news for new signing Raheem Sterling. The £49million man watched on from the stands, and was roundly booed as his face appeared on the big screen in the Gold Coast during the game.

Don't like booing tbh.

Boo.. urns Boo.. urns

Thats what they were shouting.

I curious about Chelsea, were they really that good last season that they don't need to buy anyone other than to replace their bench warmers?

No, they were the best of a bad bunch, United and Liverpool were very poor (compared to how they should be), Arsenal were their usual selves and City only played for half a season. Most years Chelsea would not have walked the league with the season they just had and will need to strengthen if they want to defend the title.

But so far they've only bought a replacement for Cech (2nd choice GK) and loaned Falcao (replacement for Drogba, 3rd choice striker).

Also rumoured to have bid for Pedro (replacement for Salah and Cuadrado, both bench warmers) and bid for Stones (presumably a long term replacement for Terry)

None of their activity this summer is for the first team and only Pedro would get anywhere near first choice.

I know, maybe it's lack of funds, it would be expensive to up-grade on any/most of their first team players.

If Costa's dodgy hamstrings give way then Chelsea aren't as much of a threat as they showed last year. I think they need a really good replacement for him as falcao just hisnt up to scratch unless he has a complete turnaround from last year

They have no replacement for Hazard, Matic or Fabregas either (though the do have a couple of lads coming through who could do a job for Matic and Fab short term).

Thata the thing. Mourinho uses so few players that anyone that's not in the initial 14 you think of isn't even a squad player so get moved on (de bruyne, schurlle etc).

He went through last season managing fine with that because was ok with injuries but a couple of crucial injuries like we had with Sturridge and have 0 replacements long term.

If if he keeps them all for for 50 games a season they should be favourites for the league

No idea mate, never heard of a team going to Canada before (who are they playing against?). Maybe they are trying to be the first to tap new fan bases.

We played in Toronto a season or two ago, I'm sure.
