Ex-Everton midfielder King dies

Posted at14:20
BBC Merseyside Sport: Former Everton midfielder Andy King has passed away at the age of 58. He had two spells with the club scoring 67 goals in 248 games.

I was at the derby game at Goodison when he got the winner, on the way home I jumped the bus up Queens Drive to the Jolliy Miller pub to get the connecting bus back to Page Moss, there were loads of Bluenoses at the bus stop buzzing that his late goal had knocked us sick.

One of the ****s said to me "hey mate where's Kings Drive?" , I said "I don't know lad but pointed over and said " but that's Queens Drive", he came right back at me laughing and said " its in the back of the Liverpool net", at which every **** at the bus stop laughed at.<grr>

Thanks for the memory Andy(even though its not a happy one), RIP.<rose>

Terrible news :(

I remember that day like it was yesterday, the first time we beat you that I was old enough to remember.

Andy was a larger than life character and a genuine nice bloke from all accounts.

Shocker that.

Dick Advocaat has told Sunderland that he will not be extending his contract despite saving the club from relegation.

Wise move. They are poor and he got a honeymoon period to save them. Leaves with a slightly better reputation than when he arrived.

**** knows how I've missed that, but I did. Deepest commiserations to his family and friends. I'll be 58 next birthday <yikes>
