So once again what's your point? Bcos you sound a little confused. If you're going to quote a stat for long balls up to this point then why talk about 38 games? As soon as I mention we're 3rd right now you suddenly say the season hasnt finished. Sounds like you're just making it up as you go along.

Btw United played close to 2500 long balls in 2010-2011 and over 2500 long balls in 2012-2013. Ofcourse I could point out that we've also played the 4th highest short passes this season after arsenal, chelsea and city but that would be as irrelevant as what you've posted bcos it's not about the length of the pass but the purpose and effectiveness of it <ok>

Can pass the ball short 5 yards between each centre back all you like to increase those stars though.

Im not that concerned about United to go into it too much but United lack creativity in the middle and have done for the last 4 or 5 years.

Got away with it under Ferguson for the last couple but since then still not replaced as proven by the fact Rooney, their best CF have had to move back to try fill the whole.

I wouldn't call them a long ball team but because they lack a midfield, they have to go more direct at times and if it works while you try find a better more attractive way to play and get results then so be it. Long term I can't see it sticking and I doubt United fans would be too pleased with it, but if it gets them top 4 this year and they can slowly change the way they play then I think they'd be pleased with it.

fellaini is better with his head than he is with his feet, so if he's playing and it's the best way to score then so be it

You're right, Carrick and Blind are like Xavi and Iniesta.

Falcao and RVP are better than the 3rd highest goal scorer in your history..

and Fellaini is the Belgian maradona with the ball at his feet.

You forgot Di Maria who has as many assists as Downing for a mere 10 times the cost

We have di Maria, Mata and Herrea for midfield. Two are not being played at the moment to make room for Rooney and one is played out of position.
Rooney has been dropped back so we are not paying Falcao £285k/week to sit on the bench (he needs to prove himself), Rooney is the captain so will be in the team when fit (as will van Persie).
Fellaini is as good with his feet as with his head, probably better in fact.

Herrera hasn't been played enough to show he is a creative force yet.

Mata I like but he's not a central midfielder. He's a number 10 and needs to float behind striker(s) but the system is allowing that and in my opinion Di Maria is a winger. His crossing is second to none.

true about Rooney, dug yourself into a hole with Falcao and having to play him etc. But even so, Rooney is back there to try and provide creativity even though he's your best CF.

Fellaini is is much more of s threat in the air than he is on the floor. That's why he's shoved further up and you go much more direct to him. On the floor he's safe, he can't get by people with skill or pace, long range shooting is non existent but he's alright defensively and with short passing. Buffets threat is he height and heading ability, be it scoring or assisting.

Hmm, one loss in last 18 games, third in the table with 13 games to go, i would love it, love it, if we became the first team of hoofballing donkeys to win the league. Imagine the outrage <laugh>

And right about know if say everyone who reads this post who's not a deluded manc is saying <doh> while everyone else is laughing their heads off

Win the league indeed.... How hilarious

Cringe

You don't stay 3rd, let alone make up 12 points, by being 6th in the form table <ok>

Mate you didnt read my post properly. Your first sentence is precisely the point I made in my post. Quoting high number of short passes is as irrelevant as quoting long passes bcos it's not about the length of the pass but its purpose. We made over 2500 long passes when we won the league in 2013 but we werent long ball merchants that season either.

I agree with the rest except replacing the creativity in midfield. We have done but no matter how good they are unfortunately they cant do it from the bench. It's like City benching Silva and Yaya and putting Aguero in midfield bcos he runs around a lot and playing Dzeko in his place up front.

So you're waiting for Carrick to get back from injury to improve and make your title push?

Nah we wont be winning the title but to say our last 6 games somehow decide whether we can maintain 3rd is as silly as saying livpl couldnt better 8th bcos of their last 6 games in november/december.
