The 67-year-old called chairman Tony Fernandes at 05:30 GMT to say he would be leaving the club, who are second bottom of the Premier League.

"I need immediate surgery," Redknapp said later. "If I can't give 100%, it's better for someone else to take over."

Did he find out at 5:30 in the morning that he needed knee surgery?

yeah you'd wonder what motivates a legendary transfer deadline day manager like hang out the window with a brown envelope harry.... to drink himself into oblivion on deadline night and ring his boss at 5:30 am and tell him to go **** himself.

I really don't know.

probably his knees..... sure thats it.

Anyone else find it funny that Spurs wouldn't loan Adebayor to West Ham as they see them as rivals but we're happy to loan Lennon to Everton.. :bandit:

The Cambridge game has been delayed until 20:05 because of Man Utd fans trying to get up on the M6

Van Beavis getting his excuses in early.

Man Utd v Cambridge Utd (19:45 GMT)

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal on BT Sport: "Cambridge play direct, long balls. They have two strikers in their selection and they fight for every second ball. It is difficult to beat this kind of team.

"Chelsea lost at home to a third-level team after being 2-0 ahead so everything is possible. Not only in England, it is not always the case that the better team is winning. We have to take care to beat the lower team.

"This season the FA Cup is number one on our priority list. It is fantastic to win and it is a long time since we won this cup"

**** me, not even joking, if Moyes dared to say it's difficult to beat at team like Cambridge (because they have 2 strikers!) then every Manc in the world would rip him apart
