Not the impression I got, Costa should have been off (Twice). Even before that he was clearly favouring Chelsea.

There was a ridiculous ten minute spell when Chelsea got away with about 5 snide fouls. The Sunderland assistant manager understandably got frustrated and questioned the 4th official. The ref suddenly burst into life and sent him to the stands! Friend is a **** ref. Costa somehow got away with a blatant elbow and kicking out. I thought he looked like a donkey today. Altidore, the worst player in the PL, looked more composed and threatening.

Friend us a terrible ref alright but none of those were real fouls and a lot if flopping went on... The Sunderland guy clearly abused the 4th official though....

Friend then let a Sunderland player handle it in the box before shooting so I can only imagine if it has gone in and stood

Friend is a poor ref no question

How did Costa not get 2 red cards... one for trying to kick O'Shea's head off, and the other for swinging his arm at Brown (totally unnatural to swing your trailing arm that much). <doh>

Mourinho is such a sore loser (and they didn't even lose)

"Only one team tried to win the game but credit to Sunderland. They were very defensive, but defending a lot and well is not a crime, it is a quality - and they did it well"

Sure Chelsea were all over Sunderland for the first 30mins and Sun defended, but after that and particularly in the 2nd half Sun looked the most likely to score and probably should have.

"Brown is very experienced and he used his body. They can frustrate a striker and can also be clever enough to get cards"

Yes I'm sure Brown meant to use his face to thud into Costa's unnatural trailing arm.Defenders often used their faces to hit other people's fists <doh>. But what about Costa's handbag moment, no mention of that or that Costa should be on a 3 match ban instead of the 1

Sunderland were so defensive that they hit the crossbar in the first half and had several close attempts in the second half. Mourinho may be a great manager but he's always been a disrespectful turd. You could tell from the "handshake" at the end of the match that Poyet is yet another manager who has very little time for Mourinho.

Ref just booked Aguero for diving despite him being 5 yards away and it being one of the most obvious penalties you're likely to see... <doh>

Terrible decision. One of the worst I've seen, which is saying a lot considering the standard of premier league refereeing in recent seasons.

Another shocking decision from the ref to give a foul and a yellow to Mangala which means he's off.

It's 50/50 shoulder to shoulder and he's just been stronger than Long <doh>

2-0, Lampard.

Southampton looked about as good as us defending then. Lampard allowed about 10 yards of space just outside the box, no opposition CM near him.

Kind of glad Southampton are getting drubbed here. Might knock their confidence and form before they play us <laugh> Other than that I hope they continue top 4 this season though.
