Problem is, much like any time you get players on loan, is you then have to buy them to only in theory "stand still". You've not improved the squad on previous season personnel wise.

Lukaku is a great signing. Have no idea why Chelsea didn't give him a chance. Prem to prem transfers are always inflated so £28m doesn't seem too bad especially if his wages are around the £65k mark as Tobes was saying. I'm still surprised Everton stumped up the cash though.

To be fair, you've never spent more than £15m so people were rightly sceptical that you'd spend £20m+ on someone. After spending £28m plus £4m on this other guy, do you think there is money leftover for 3 or 4 more signings without players going?

I know you're partly pissing around, but the squad depth has improved even if maybe our 1st 11 has got weakened. Could go one of two ways... could improve the team like it did when you guys got rid of Rooney and invested in the rest of the team... or could do a Spurs and go backwards without the real star quality.

Have to wait and see.
