thats because the "pundits" are idiots who deal only in knee jerk reactions .
Only Liverpool could win the league - Spend £500m on the squad and still get called a team in transition.

Over here at Chelsea we have spent 1 and a half billion and we are still "in transition"!

Teams can claim to be in transition for as long as they like. Grade A excuse for getting away with not winning. Classic low-expectation behaviour.
The amount you spend is irrelevant.
If you spend half a billion and sign Messi, Isak, Van Dijk and Donnaruma, then you should be looking to win.
If you spend the same amount on half a dozen unknown South American Teenagers and then send them out on loan, plus a back up right back.....then you have achieved **** all for your money and your owner is a ******....which is the case with a lot of clubs.
Cool. I agree. Nothing is relevant to being in transition. Any team can claim to be whatever they want if it makes them happy.
So if it's well spent like Arsenal - we "have to deliver now" and "there's no excuses".
But if you do a Chelsea and just accumulate and sell wingers for seemingly no reason there's no pressure.
There is still pressure, just on different people.
At Arsenal you have the squad to win the league, so the pressure is on the players and the manager
At Chelsea, we dont, despite the spending, so the pressure is on the owners to sort it the **** out.
Aint no way we can expect Maresca to win the league with this squad....even Pep wouldnt win the league with our squad.....

James better than Timber. Fofana better than Gabiel and Saliba. Cucurella better than Cala. Caicedo better than Rice. Enzo better than Zubi. Palmer better than Saka. It goes on.

Enzo better than Zubi? Again, Zubi has played like what, 6 games in the PL? Way too early to judge. Enzo blows hot and cold, I have seen him play like a beast and I have seen some of the worst performances I have ever seen in a Chelsea shirt from him.....
Palmer better than Saka? Like Caicedo and Rice......they are comparable.
The fact is without a CB pairing that works or a good goal keeper, we aint winning the league.
You have the best defence in the league and a world class keeper.

Our owners could have fixed this by going for Guehi and Donnaruma in the summer but prefered to sign Gittens and Garnacho instead to inflate what was already a huge list of wide forwards that we didnt need.
Two Seasons ago we were competing with Pep and Klopp (arguably the two best coaches in World football) with a Rookie inexperienced manager and when we didn't win the league we get called failures.
Well those people were unrealistic.
You were in the same boat we are in now, except it was your forward line that needed work.
You needed a midfield anchor, a left sided forward and a striker. And the pressure was on your owners for not giving Arteta the players he needed.
They got him Rice, then eventually Eze and Gyokeres.
Now he has them.....to my mind, THIS is the only season where Arteta can truly be blamed if you dont win the league, since he now has the players he needs.
But thats just me.

Deservedly so too. Spurs weren't good and didn't offer much attacking threat in the second half. They have a very robust, physical midfield, but they lack guile, creativity and efficiency in front of goal.
Wasn't impressed at all with Odobert, Tel and Simons.
Have to be honest. I like Frank as a manager, but he wasn't proactive with his subs and took too long to see where they were going wrong in terms of their midfield composition and how they constructed attacks.
Nether Frank or anyone else will ever change Spurs.
I like him too as a manager - but he wont last at that place.
