It's funny that Liverpool have been nothing but praised for playing the kids in the League Cup. Wenger ALWAYS did this. And was constantly criticised for it.
Yeah but to be fair, Liverpool just won the trophy. But not entirely sure they played THAT many kids in it. Overhyped. But Liverpool always are. If they do somehow manage to win the quadruple, as epic an end to Klopp’s as it will be, you could argue they’d be comfortably the worst team to ever achieve something like that. When I think back to their team that won the league 4 years ago… now THEY were incredible. This team… meh. If they beat City in a few weeks, I can’t see them dropping many other points though. Urgh.
Fabrizio Romano claims Arsenal are interested in signing Sporting Lisbons Viktor Gyökeres. Interesting player, showed great potential as a youngster but had fairly unsuccessful spells at Brighton and Coventry. Wasn't until he went to Sporting that his career took off. Definitely a weird one. 25 years old - I guess he could be a late developer (like Wright) he's powerful quick and scored some insane goals this Season. This Season he has 31 goals and 11 assists in just 34 games.
Leipzig should be 3 or 4 up this half. Just some terrible finishing stopping them from comfortably beating Madrid.
Real through - what a load of bollocks. Liepzig were just naeive, wasted too many chances - should have done better. What is it about Real, Bayern and Liverpool? they seem to just believe they will win .. and they do.
It's their heritage. There's a reason why those clubs you've mentioned have been so successful in Europe on a multitude of occasions.
I hope City's midfield is that open we when play them. It's funny Carragher saying 'that was the best you could watch in Europe' post game. Neither team played that well at all. (fun game though)
Gracenote really doesn't fancy Arsenal's chances in our remaining fixtures, to the point where they're even already just calling it a two-horse race:
Charles Watts has said it was more of a precaution because they didn't want him to aggravate things further, but he said, for now, it's a minor muscle injury.
The key to beating this PSG side is just to man mark Mbappe. They all look to find him whenever they get forward. Barca looks suspect defensively.
I realise I’m saying this in hindsight, but feels like we missed a huge opportunity to sign him back in January 2022. Jesus has been such an important player for us, and has elevated our level, but can’t help but feel Isak would have been perfect for us and how we play. Shame we missed out.
Also, I am hoping that performance will shut up the large Spurs accounts on social media who were saying that Gabriel and Saliba aren’t as good as Romero and Van der Ven. They’ve conceded 21 goals this calendar year in the league, whereas we’ve conceded 4. There’s no debate to be had.
