Quite possibly. But I read an article earlier saying he gave it the biggun' on socials for his return but has been gash in those two games since and was the culprit for conceding the only goal they have up in one game! God knows. Media make up whatever they want.
Chelsea have sacked Frank Lampard. wow. The difference in ruthlessness between the two clubs. I think it’s harsh personally but it’s a results business. still think inevitably Arteta will get sacked over the next year.
I thought Chelsea were too quick to pull the trigger. Like you said, it is a results based business (however, not in our case it seems). He brought them champions league football, something we can only dream of... I really doubt Arteta will be fired anytime soon though, unless of course we come in 17th in the league!
Way too quick - I mean there's enough there to see Frank has the talent to be a good coach. He's young and still learning and you would expect him to improve as he goes on. Chelsea have a habit of rash decisions though when it comes to hiring and firing.
FA cup: When arsenal win it: small trophy, lost all meaning, not what it used to be when Leicester win it: magnificent achievement, daring to dream, winners, “arsenal kicked out of big 6”
Interestingly, Maitland Niles had a shocker on his debut as Roma lost 4-3 to Juventus. He was rated 4.5 (the lowest on the pitch) for his performance. Seem to regularly get caught out of position.
Aubameyang scored a hatrick for Barca today. Was interesting to hear Xavi thoughts. To paraphrase he's basically said they've had to change the style of play to accommodate Auba's strengths (which is being played through, running on to balls). Which got me thinking .. Arteta on the other hand was forcing Aubameyang to play a role which didn't suite him at all. Perhaps Aubameyang isn't finished, He was just being mis-used. Kinda a shame really
Boils down to the fact that Arteta isn't a great manager. I really don't see him being the long haul guy for you to be honest. Even though you may sneak 4th this season, you could just as easily finish 8th again. You lack firepower up front. You guys should have sprung for Tammy Abraham in the summer, he is doing a decent job at Roma and I think he would have fit well into your team. I can see why a lot of Arsenal fans sneered at the thought in the summer, since you had Aubameyang, but in hindsight......
He's a young manager without any prior experience. He still may end up being an elite manager. I was firmly in the 'Arteta Out' camp in the Summer but the signings he's brought in: Odegaard, Tomiyasu, Ramsdale, White.. have all been class so Im starting to think he may know how to build a good team. We will certainly buy a striker this summer. (possibly two) Yep would have taken Abraham - was a mistake by Chelsea to sell him IMO. Saying that though I don't think he will ever be prolific. But yeah I think the target man type CF is what Arteta is after. I expect Isak and if Lacazette goes Lautaro will be on the list.
I agree, but at least we had the sense to put in a buyback clause this time. I think we can have him back, assuming he wants to come back, for £60m.
Arteta inherited a unbalanced squad full of deadwood, overpaid superstars and players on short contracts. What he’s done so far is win the FA cup, a community shield and begin to assemble a young squad who are pushing for a CL spot We’re by no means the finished article yet and Arteta will make mistakes along the way, but from what I’ve seen so far, I think he’s proving to be a decent manager. We’ll buy a striker, possibly two in the summer. And along with an upgrade on Xhaka, then I think this squad is in decent shape
If Chelsea go into administration don't they get a 12 pt deduction from the FA. (like Derby back in the day?) #3rdplace
Wasn’t sure where to put this, but these quotes from Monreal about Ozil are damning: If someone as professional and upstanding as Monreal is coming out and saying this, you know Ozil’s presence became a millstone around our neck.
