People talk about the Nouveau Riche but Real Madrid, Barca etc have been doing it for ages. The money side has ruined football, the passion has been sucked right out of the game. The World Cup has steadily become more boring with players prioritising club football over it.
Well the market has been driven up. Thanks to City and Chelsea you cant even buy top players in their early 20's without spending a small fortune. You now have to sign talented teenagers if you want a bargain. Which is of course much more of a risk as its hard to predict development. Arsenal are in fact looking to do this though in the same way Dortmund have. (hence the appointment of Minislat) There's no way any self sustaining Club can compete financially with City/Chelsea/PSG. It has ruined football on some level IMO. Its a shame FFP is'nt better it would solve alot of problems.
Looks like Ronaldo to Juve may actually happen. Dyabala and Ronaldo upfront - in a solid Allegri team. Sounds pretty formidable. I think we may finally see the Italian win the Champions League
Except Dybala is joining Liverpool.... Says a few dumb hacks. But yeah I agree that will be some team. Also means Hazard will join Real so happy days!
Dybala is now staying at Juve according to James Pearce of the Echo. I don't know if that means anything though
He's our most reliable journalist. Goes everywhere with the club and generally gets the correct info. I knew it was a pipe dream so hardly surprised!
Shaqiri to Liverpool. Reckon for 13 million we should have gone for it. We paid 8 million for a 17 year old. A little bit more and we can get someone who can come in and make a difference.
50/50 on shaqiri; not sure if we should have gone for him or not. I could see him being a bargain, I could also see him never getting in the pool team and ending up on loan at brighton.
on another note, how refreshing, and I mean it, how REFRESHING is it to listen to arsenal press conferences and actually hear NEW responses for the first time in the last 20 odd years. actually ANSWERING questions instead of that old "we believe in the quality of the overall squad". "we focus on the next game". "I believe this team has great spirit" etc etc.
Im not bothered about Shakiri. Great potential but lets be honest he's mediocre MOST odf the time. Infuriating player.
Seen enough of him for Stoke. Has the occasional good game but nowhere near good enough for a top side.
Its the classic 'Oxlade Chamberlain' scenario. Talent is there but who really wants a WF/AMF that only gets you 4-5 goals a Season? and barely any assists? We have players like Iwobi who we complain arnt delivering enough already!
Think the big clubs have missed a trick .13m for Shakira is a bargain. Can't really blame him at Stoke who were playing long ball and can't really get the ball to him plus he's had a lot of injuries. Only issue for him is attitude and potentially work rate. Even so he's a player who can skin and player and produce a moment of magic
