I watched the highlights later on and Townsend was talking the biggest pile of bollocks ever, saying it was a terrible decision blah blah blah. ****ty biased commentary of the highest order.
It wouldn't suprise me if the majority of these jokers were. God knows what will happen to these fans when ol Bacon Face retires....
Another note on last nights game - The Modric goal was incredible. The power he hit it with and the way the ball curled in from that angle was a joy to watch. That'll be one of the best goals of his career. The lead up play was good as well.
Townsend and Tyldesley were up in arms when Welbeck went down in the area and got booked in an England game. Initially Townsend was saying that if anything Welbeck was being too honest by trying to hurdle the challenge and then over the following 3 or 4 replays slowly backtracked until they eventually realised that he dived. They annoy me at times but it was a brilliant moment as they tried to think of excuses for Welbeck. Far too much is being made of the decision though. Apparently it "ruined" what could have been an excellent game but it was a pretty good game and if anything the sending off made it more exciting. I said at the time though that it would've been a shame if the own goal had settled the tie and equally if the harsh red card had decided the game but ultimately it was a moment of real quality from Modric that won it and that's how it should be remembered.
100%. Last 30 mins were brilliant, in a way it's a shame United blew it so quickly conceding those 2 quick goals. Funny how the Real disallowed goal and pen not given weren't mentioned by the ever biased ITV pundits. So Arsenal, last English team in the C.L, how does it feel!?!?
That was a great goal. I too was suprised by the way how Modic generated so much power. He couldn't have hit it sweeter, a total tracer bullet. Nothing looked like stopping that, even the post had no chance.
To be fair Townsend did actually say he thought it was a handball, although he didn't dwell on it. Tyldesley was dragging out the old "it has to be deliberate" nonsense as if he's not seen penalties given for a lot less obvious handball's in the past. My first reaction was "well he never did that for us!" He can pass it as well as anyone but when it came to shooting his technique seemed to go to pot but that strike was pure class, it even had to swerve to get inside the post, as you say, there was no stopping it.
I remember him scoring a blistering strike against Liverpool, that must surely rank as one of his better goals for your team.
waw first time i hear about it and if that is the case ... is not fair you are not getting punished over it and only UTD
1- it was not intentional for GOD sake .. you are dreaming talking about a red card .. a penalty.. well it was not intentional .. a red card .. you are hallucinating 2- UTD had other penalty calls too 3- no other decision will compensate going down to 10 men .. and game over .. i rather be 2-0 or 3-0 down but have the 11 player on the pitch to have a chance.. 4- Nani never seen the player .. it was honest challenge.. otherwise let us stop players trying an overhead goals bcz a defender may pop out at any time and he get red carded .. and if it s dangerous .. GK punching vidic in head with both hand was more dangerous is people like you what make wish Spurs finish above you .. luckily i have some arsenal friends here in London who talk more sense and less hypocrite hope you do well and be in CL next season .. not bcz of you but bcz my other arsenal friends
He raised his hands on the goal line whilst jumping in front of where he expected the ball to go. How is that then not deliberate? The fact that he then 'saved' a goal with his arm means it should have been a red AND a penalty, for delberately preventing a goal. As for Nani. A definite red card for dangerous and volent play. Irrelevent whether he meant it or had seen the player. Reactions of the Manu players and manager - Dispicable, but I'm hardly surprised by their lack of class again. The club should receive a heavy fine and what ever other punishments are deemed fit by UEFA. The players involved, esepcially Rio should receive bans. That's my neutral view on it.
It doesn't have to be intentional, I've already told you this more than once. His arm was outstretched and it prevented a clear goal. Therefore if the ref had seen it, it would have been a penalty and a red card. Look it up in the rules if you don't believe me As for the other part of your comment - that's just you throwing your toys out of the pram
Regarding the Nani red card, it wasn't a tackle, he was trying to control the ball. Arbeola threw himself into the ball and Nani's foot. Even the Madrid players seemed surprised by the red card. As for Ferguson's lack of media appearance last night, why does it matter that he didn't want to speak to the media? Everyone would have been just as mad at what he would have said anyways. If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all.
