TBH to Milner I rate him above the other two. He might be average technical wise but his work rate covers up that deficiency. I might get stick for this but I'd take him at Arsenal. He could be a good impact sub
No one, because a few seasons ago two of them were at Saints academy. Three academy players were on the pitch at one point. Shame Theo wasn't available. We could have had 6 Arsenal players and 4 Saints academy then!
Watched the Poland-Germany game yesterday, and Chensey had a blinder. Also interesting that he was not doing his unsual short passing routine for Poland. Confirms my belief, that it's a Wenger thing and he tells Chemsey to play it short, but the problem with that is, Chensey is no Neur or De Gea and his feet are not as good as those two in terms of passing.
Oh and today, I thought Wilshere was sublime. He played two brilliant passes for Shrek who ****ed it up.
I personally think he is as good as those 2 with his short passing. How many times have you seen him actually pass it to an opposition player when he has time to play his short passes? I don't think I've ever seen it happen. Sure its heart in mouth stuff at times, but its part of why we all love Szczesny
It's not that he passes it to an opposition player, but he does take his time, giving the opposition time to close him down. He can get too casual with that. Also his long kicking is still piss poor.
I get the feeling that it's part of our strategy to play the ball out quickly to feet so that the CB/FB's can start the attack, or pass it to Arteta (or the Deep Lying Playmaker) who can then attack while making sure that we keep possession. As opposed to booting the ball upfield where, because we're a short team, we'd be more likely to lose the ball. It does annoy me that we do this almost every time though, especially when we're chasing a goal towards the end of a game. But I can see why we do it, especially as we play possession football.
His decision on when to pass short is terrible, not that he passes directly to the opposition, I've been saying that here since the first days. I don't think it's a Wenger thing, the rest of our keepers whatever their weaknesses never were so casual in this regard. It might be that the Polish coach instructed him specifically on that, I didn't see the game. Our CBs can be covered by 3 players sometimes and he'll still decide to do a short pass, putting a lot of pressure, then the best scenario is they act quick and return the ball to him, they apply more pressure and he hoofs it to the bench area. I see Arteta and Mertesacker get irritated very explicitly about these almost every game. But if it doesn't end up in a goal every single time, apparently he did nothing wrong. That these can shift the flow of the game, affect the tempo, and change momentum is of no consequence apparently. You'd have to think really hard when Szczesny ever did anything to calm a game down when we were getting pummeled. He just fuels the flames.
And yet he carries on doing this and is not dropped. The manager clearly does not see a problem with it, and he more than likely encourages that kinda of play.
