If only they gave out trophies for trying hard... Let's play bingo. On our card are: pace, desire, tactics, competent management, a class strikeforce How many of these were displayed by Arsenal yesterday? How many can you spot in Liverpool today?
problem with liverpool is they have NO squad depth. They basically play the same 11 every week, occasionally changing 1 player here or there (Sakho for Agger, Allen for Coutinho, etc.). Next year they will have to invest a lot in order to keep a title challenge alongside any European exploits.
Squad depth or not, they're doing it, and can still end the season with the league. Even if they fail next year, they would still have won it this year, which is all that matters atm.
It's been a huge advantage to them. They are fresh every week, so can play with so much energy and pace. Not only have they had no European football, but they were so knocked out of the cup's pretty early.
Yeah, it's all about that, nothing do with with attitude tactics skill and discipline, hard work all week on getting it right for match day. This is always said when we do well, same when we won the CL, banging on about not competing for the title so we could commit to Europe, see United proved that a fallacy this season. Now we're doing well in the league and again talk of not being in Europe. if we were in the CL this season we would have bought more players last summer. The single biggest impact on our doing well is Rodgers. Not PC enough says City's defense has been crap, we over ran them on attacks, pulled them apart, but no credit to Liverpool, City must be **** at the back We should be 3 or 4 0 up but I certainly wouldn't count city out by any stretch, I expect them to come back at us.
We're never gonna have the squad depth of city or Chelsea. Not without their money. But I do feel well cope next year with the CL more than people feel. I feel it's a huge disservice to the quality of the team that rivals keep saying we boss teams because we're 'fresher': City have had a whole week to prepare too. And we've had mid week games this year and still won weekend games. But I agree that obviously the more games you play, the more likely Your key players are likely to get injured, and we've been luck with injuries. But then surely all title contenders need a bit of luck to win the thing?
Seems to me that being fresher will have had an impact, but the biggest difference has clearly been Rogers. He's got them playing great as a unit, he's finding weaknesses in the opposition and playing accordingly, and he's motivating the team and sending them out to win.
Now then. Liverpool havnt been in this position for a while. I expect them to sneak another on the break
