If City get another goal, they will win the group, so they still have a chance of winning and getting something massive from it.
Thank ****, they didn't. Because knowing our luck we would come first and drawn Bayern in the last 16.
Basel beat the Chavs twice, so they are no easy knock over. But that said I'd rather we faced them than the likes of Munich
They knocked 5pu1s out from the Europa League last year and Trafford out of the Champions League the year before that. Definitely a bogey team for English sides. With that said you shouldn't have any problems with them if you're drawn together. They haven't even qualified yet.
Yeah well the Spuds got spanked by Young Boys in the Europey a couple of seasons back so it isn't really a measure of how good Basel are. Any team that makes it through to the KO rounds of the Champions League have got there by merit so they have to be considered to be a danger, but obviously we'd rather face somebody like Basel over Bayern.
Galatasaray managed a 1-0 win today over Juventus meaning they go through and Juve don't. I'd rather the chance of playing Galatasaray than Juventus in the CL so think it's a good result.
Gerrard's been rule out for 6 weeks with his hamstring injury, ouch. Sturidge is also out for around that same time too. Let's see how Pool cope with these injuries, we've had so many main players out for us this season with injury yet we've still managed to remain consistent and on top, so let's see if Pool can do it.
A big 6 weeks, Gerrard is a big miss for us, him and Ozil are level top for assists this season. We can manage without Sturridge or Suarez, we have done quite well without one or the other but Gerrard is a big miss for us. it is not as if you had to go to City Chavs and Spuds away with missing key players, hardly a comparison on our next month or so without Gerrard and Sturridge, for me we miss Enrique too tbh
We've had the longest injury list in the league so far this season including Walcott who was one of the most productive players in the league last season and gives us a totally different option. When we played spurs we had only youth on the bench, we literally started the season with 11 first team players fit, no subs. When we played you lot Wilshere was the only player on the bench who wasn't a defender or youth player. And there are lots of other individual examples of how we have had to cope with injuries this season. Don't know how you think that's hardly a comparison to you guys having to put up with 2 players being out for 6-8 weeks. Perfectly good comparison for me.
We've done really well to miss two of our main attacking forwards. We are really fortunate that Giroud has stayed fit and performed well in their absence, otherwise we would be struggling somewhat. Agreed on Walcott, he was one of our best attacking performers last season and he provides us with a different outlet of attack. Its good to have him back and hopefully he can stay fit and hit form soon.
Both of the fixtures in Spurs group mean nothing for any of the 4 teams. Spurs have already topped the group, Anzi have already come second, i suppose not comming bottom of the group is on the line for tromso but with no real need to put full effort in. It's just an opportunity for someback-up players to get a run about.
