Sounds win win to me. <laugh>

Don't actually know much about the ins and outs of obamacare, but I'm guessing from what you said there that workplaces are obliged to contribute a certain amount relative to their cost of salary. But it would be a sad state of affairs if the owners and shareholders of these workplaces were earning staggering salaries, profits and dividends, but would rather cut down the working man's hours instead of contibuting to a social health package that benefits the least well off.

It would affect fast-food and other restaurant franchises the most. These outlets generally operate individually like a unit on their own (paying licenses etc. to the franchisor), with very very thin profit margins. They would either have to reduce their workforce to cope or say if they had 30 x 40/h workers convert most to 30/h workers, keeping a handful with insurance plans.

Back in the day it would only take someone to say how **** Spurs were to get this thread back on topic. But with all their signings recently that type of statement can be signature material this season.

You say that as if it would be a bad thing.

Our society is ****ed because everyone expects a free ride.

I would also point out that we ruled a hefty portion of the world until the NHS came along and encouraged everyone to become lazy scroungers <whistle>

Up until last year, California was a Repulican controlled state.

The reason the Texan economy is doing so well, and always has done is because of their oil production.

Your left wing bashing doesn't hold any credence here and actually reveals a blind spot in your thinking <ok>

The democratic party has held both state legislatures for decades (in dominating numbers).

Re: Texas, most states which deal in oil production you can also find the GDP sans oil production as an indicator. In both metrics Texas has been booming for years.

It doesn't hold any credence because you say so, or because you've made an argument which falsifies any particular thing I've said?

It doesn't hold any credence because only eight out of the last twenty two years has seen a Democratic Governor in California. The vast majority of the time it has been under Republican control. So the 'leaning to the left' is a complete hash of a excuse as to why their economy has had a downturn. It's vastly more complex that who governs the state, but if you want to simplify it using that argument, then it would be the fault of a Repulican Governor than has overseen the downturn.

"Shifted to the left" means the public votes mostly for left-wing politicians, hence left-wing legislators have the majority control of what laws and policies to pass. Republican Governors in California have been basically individuals using the Republican brand to win an election, like Schwarzenegger (because Republicans with a right-wing platform would have absolutely no chance to win in California). Arnie's politics were completely in line with the democratic control of both state legislatures, as a Governor isn't a dictator.

So you're saying it's a complete coincidence that the business environment in California has become to be the one of worst in the Country since both state legislatures have become completely dominated by Democrats? It ranked 47/50 I think last year.

Seriously, who gives a damn about UK politics, let alone US politics. Why should we care what the hanks do or don't do.

Criticising left-wing policy, which was initially a right-wing policy in the States, for being corrupted on it's way through by the right wing?
How is that a failing of the left, exactly?

Given that most Americans don't seem to be able to tell the difference between socialism and communism, I'm not sure how convincing any argument's going to be for Obama's lot being left-wing in the first place.
As for Fox News "leaning to the right", are you kidding me? That big, old building in Pisa leans. Fox News is so far to the right that it's virtually horizontal.
I'm convinced that a number of it's reporters think they're working on a parody for a comedy channel.

Well sorry on my part for the deviation, but it all came about due to ToledoStraw-MenTrumpton not admitting he made some **** up regarding Cinema Censorship, then doubling down on his own bullshit as he frequently does.
