They have spent a **** load of cash on strikers in the last decade, and only really Drogba has been top class for them, the others although big names, with big transfers and salaries - have largely been flops considering.
Drogba aside they have almost all been poor. Some have cost more than a Premier League side If they sign a player, who gives them the same influence they got from Drogba, they will be a serious threat.
Schurrle will play wide left and Oscar will drop deeper, I think we will go 4-3-2-1. If Lukaku can stay fit he'll get around 15-20 goals for us. Chalobah will step in for Mikel. Just need a replacement for Drogba and we'll be fine. Whether Lukaku can be that man, time will tell, but he's only 19 and improving all the time. Still feel we need another top CB besides Luiz
Ironically for all the players Chelsea have bought there are still holes, you need a CF. Lukaku does look a player but he is 19 and not ready yet. But he will get you goals of the bench and starts against the lesser teams. DM (mikel and ramires aren't it) 1 CB to replace/play with Luiz and one to replace Terry soon, don't think Cahill is it. But Mourinho will inherently make you more disciplined so it will be harder to waltz through your mf - will be interesting to see who you get.
Lukaku looks like Drogba mark II. Been really impressed with him at West Brom, it remains to be seen whether he can make the step up to the top level, but he has all the raw ingredients.
The idea of getting Schurrle was to free up Mata and Hazard. Schurrle is also far more defensively disciplined than both of them. Schurrle signing means we can move Hazard to the right where he is far better (than on the left). Failing that we could also interchange and move Hazard in the middle with Mata wide right and cutting in (a role he played for Valencia). I 100% agree with you on Cahill and have been saying the same for ages. Jose won't have a CB with no positional awareness, he's the Scott Parker of defence. We need a midfield enforcer (Mikel doesn't press) as Ramires is good without possession of the ball but poor with it. I feel Lewandowski, Capoue and any CB with a brain (not Cahill) would complete our team and make us competitive across various competitions.
I agree, at 21 I think we will see something close to the full package. I honestly believe he has the potential to be our all time record scorer if he stays with us for 10+ seasons.
That's quite a bold and speculative claim at this point in time to be honest mate, but yes he does look like he could be the real deal.
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/fo...azil-and-Corinthians-midfielder-Paulinho.html I rate Paulinho and a midfield trio of Dembele,Sandro and Paulinho would be very strong indeed. Hope that deal falls through.
That would be a top 3 midfield easily. Complete midfield and as good without the ball as they are with it.
to an extent true, but Drogba has been our main striker since buying him, which was almost a decade ago. We've always tried to buy strikers to play with Drogba at the club which has been our downfall. I was always a big fan of Nico though.
Anelka never lived up to his potential. At Arsenal he was compared to Maradona but moved too early to Real and went, his career never picked up after then. I've always said I thought Anelka was the best natural finisher I've seen in the PL, clinical. Never forgave him for Moscow though, pretty much cost us the CL, although Grant was inept as well and played the wrong side.
Anelka was the classic journeyman. He could have had a glittering career at Arsenal, but he chose to **** off to Madrid and never really settled again. I can't believe he gave some of his best years to Bolton
Anelka was badly advised by his brothers. He said some years later that his biggest mistake was leaving Arsenal
We need a good keeper, and everyone on our board would love to see Mannone back. How much would you think it would take,to get him. He did like it here.
Um...who's Chesney ? Is this him ?
