Makes it worse for me. Knowing that we would had to only beat that pathetic Villa side over two legs in a semi-final and we would have made a Wembley final. Oh ffs.
It's always a bit of a gamble taking a relatively unknown player from a foreign league and putting him in the premier league. Even for somebody who scored so many goals. Any player coming from La Liga will tell you about the step up in pace and intensity in the English game. Michu though has been a gamble that has paid off for Swansea. If he keeps up his form until the end of the season, you might see a big club coming in for him then.
I think he's succeeded because of: A) His manager. Laudrup knows him and what he can do. B) His size. For a Spanish player, he's pretty big, which is unusual. C) The system. Again, Laudrup deserves some credit.
Laudrup has done really well with Swansea so far this season. I feared for them when Rodgers left, but Laudrup has not only continued with their attacking flair, but he's also turned them into a team who can take on (and beat) some of the best teams in the league. I'm tipping them for a Europa place this season at the expense of Liverpool
He's bought well. Michu, Pablo Hernandez (we were linked with him a season ago), Jonathan De Guzman, Ki Seung Yeung are all good players.
