Yes, this is only one window. He will recover. May be this could be a blessing in disguise as there is no knowing what might happen. You, I and everyone else is speculating. All the big buys this window may turn out to be flops and Moyes will be laughing all the way to the title...
So you're saying Fergie had no effect and that basically any manager would succeed at Manu? Guess he should hand back that Knighthood and give it to you.
Well that has certainly not been evident in his first few games were he has very clearly been happy to not lose rather than win. If that's ruthlessness long may he continue being so.
Economic studies suggest clubs capable of paying the biggest wages should win the league while transfer spend is far less relevant. Obviously it's far more complicated than that, but it suggests City and Chelsea should be well ahead in the long run and that last season was more the exception than the rule for the future.
Ok Utd fans.... So if the reason Man Utd have dominated isnt because they make the most money, pay good wages, and had a great manager and can there fore sign the best players......what is the reason for your domination? Please tell us....because if its none of the above, I am baffled. You will still make a shedload of cash, but no longer pay the best wages and no longer have a great manager who can bring in all the good players. Please fill me in on what makes you so sure you will continue to dominate..... I am not saying you will definitely not continue to dominate, but for me, most of the reasons why you dominated have now been removed....so i can no longer see how you will maintain it.....you might call it wishful thinking, but I am not being biased here or WUMMING, I am legitimately trying to figure out how you insist nothing will change....
Exactly. I maintain they will still compete and win titles but it's almost inconcievable given the current financial and managerial situations at the top 3 clubs that United can dominate to the same extent. P
Another exception to the rule. Why still have such a petty pop when I'm backing up your points? Still, you get to learn some new words and even some Yiddish.
Good post and no surprise they aren't responding. They have dismissed everything but the funniest is how they are now belittling Fergie. Anyone apparently can win titles at Manu now
Now this is more like it, i agree the extent of domination will never be the same. We still have the money to buy, we still pay top wages when needed, we still have the players that walked the league last year and have added a midfielder (whoopidoo) that we have needed two of for the last few years. We also have some very promisssing players coming through from the under 21 side. We have lost the greatest British manager ever in Fergie, but he has not left the club, he is still around for Moyes to ask advice from or bounce ideas off and given the size of the task in front of him i don`t think Moyes will be too stuborn to ignore this resource, at least for the first season.
The Chelsea fans agree with the majority that SAF was the greatest manager that this country has seen. But to say that just because he has left means the team will crumble is nonsense and typical wishful thinking. The culture of excellence lives on, the mentality and desire to win trophies is still there. I agree that United will not dominate to the same extent but they will win titles and still be the team to beat. City has had unlimited budget and almost everyone said that that was the end of United. It is not just that simple. United may not win the title this season (Moyes may spring a surprise) but if that happens they will get back with renewed force to the top next season
I dont agree with that statement at all Fergie stayed at a big fish in a small pond never had aspirations to show his management skills abroad like Jose, Carlo etc and in 20 odd years still couldn't beat Bill Paisley's three european cups in nine years. For my money he would be 4th behind Paisley, Stein & Jose.
I respect that your opinion is different. But as a domestic manager the vast majority of fans think and believe that SAF was the greatest. Even Jose believes it too in his many interviews. But you can keep your belief and I can keep mine . I do not rate Jose at all because his football is so dull and it is painful to watch at times even though he brings success in terms of trophies. That is why although he is very good he is not a great manager But then whoever said" we all think we have the prettiest wife at home" is so right
Agree fergie greatest domestic manager ever but poor in Europe when he had so much time, stability and money to build teams to beat real (signed Veron etc to do this) and galacticos, Carlo's Milan and Pep's Barca. What stops him being greatest manager ever is that he never beat an in-form marquee European side at the top of its game, eg Real early 00s, Milan mid 00s, Barca under Pep
That's a funny thing to say when just the other day YOU said that Moyes would be successful because anyone would be successful at Manu So SAF was ,according to YOU, was not special at all. Come on Smithy make your mind up.
It's only different to yours because you are brain-washed into believing the united mantra. You probably don't even know that Jock Stein took Celtic to be the first British winners of the European cup with a team he made from players that all lived within 5 miles of the ground. Bill Paisley will always be greater because he won three European cups in nine years when it was a proper competition, something Fergie could only dream about. Jose has had success in four countries whereas Fergie only had one. There are others but your indoctrination would not allow you to think for yourself.
Bob Paisley was better. I don`t know if you have noticed but it was quite common for teams to win the European Cup back to back or even three times in a row in the old formet, nobody has done this since the Champions League format was established in 1993. Fergie never jumped from one successful club to another whereby he could just tweak an already good squad to make them better, instead he stayed at one club and repeatedly rebuilt the team to keep them at the top.
Teams that won it back top back or three times were the best teams of their days, It was harder to win than this diluted claptrap we have now and it should be called the nearly champions league. United were never good enough under any manager to win it like Paisley did. Fergie was unambitious and knew his capabilities that's why he stayed at united. Still a good manager but no where near top draw.
