I find any extremes like that amusing and quite enjoy stoking the fires both ways.

I could watch them two bicker all night.
HIAG owns him on every level.
HIAG knows he is being a douche, and Piskie gets so wound about it, that HIAG just plays up to it and carries on, and PISKIE becomes almost delirious with outrage <laugh>

perhaps we should get HIAG & Piskie into a word fight or debate for another epic like 'Rumble in the jungle'.

To be fair HIAG is a quality poster, in regards to the fact that not606 would be a duller place without him <laugh>

Plus I'm glad people have finally started to use the 'Premier League' board rather than just stick to their own teams board - makes things a lot more interesting. It's also funny as you like, especially as there are no mods on there <laugh>

However, Van Gaal believes Belgium international Marouane Fellaini could be the solution to his problems up front.
"He can play in a nine position and a 10," said the Dutchman. "He can also play at six and eight, but this year he shall play more at nine and 10 because there we have other players."

    Long ball Louis <laugh>

The irony of any Chelsea fan commenting on long ball football after years of launching it to Drogba. So integral to Chelsea's style that they brought him back at the age of 47.

The irony of United fans defending long ball Louis after spending most of last season criticising Chelsea's tactics and style of play. Hilarious in fact.

Wonder what Fergie makes of it all....

To be fair you have to be able to mix it up, I think Arsenal prove that fact.

Chelsea do it, Man Utd do it, City do it, Liverpool can now with Benteke.

Being predictable was our biggest problem last season.
Nothing wrong with playing a long ball from time to time and having that option is a must imo.

Did I defend LVG? I must have missed that. Or it was the voices in your head. Jose hears voices. They're all against him. All of them.

So I presume therefore that you are rightly embarrassed that a club of United's stature and resources are going to revert to sticking a lanky midfielder up front and feeding him long balls? <whistle>

I don't think that will happen and I don't think even if Fellaini is played as a striker we will play long ball, unless you classify a goal like the one he scored against Bruges to be a result of long ball play.

We went long ball at the end of a couple of games last season. Every team does that in the last few seconds when they're trying to nick a goal (every club apart from Arsenal). Big Sam picked up on it as the point he was trying to make was that even United have to launch it at times. A couple of cretins have been feeding off of that quote ever since. I think we played more "long ball" under Moyes and I think Chelsea play more long ball than United as it's part of Jose's style, launch it to the big, elbowing striker. You've cheered Chelsea's consistent long ball play for years but object to another team using the tactic in the last few seconds of the occasional match. Perhaps after years of watching Chelsea grind out games you've become immune to it!

Difficult to have the passing and possession stats that United have had under LVG if all you do is punt it long. It's that simple which is why it's surprising that the aforementioned cretins don't understand it. I'm more concerned about how boring the passing game has become. You should be more concerned about what's happening to Chelsea now that they've tried to play less long ball!

I would strongly disagree that we play more long ball than United. Call it crap, boring or bus-parking but it ain't long ball.

It's only banter, don't get so worked up about it ;)

Fact is, if Fellani plays up front it's not because he's a brilliant footballer or finisher, it's because he's tall (and also loves to elbow people). ;)

Perhaps not anymore. Certainly when you had Drogba up front.

I must have dreamt Duff and Robben running rampant on the wings and the skill of Gudjohnson and J Cole in and around the box then.....<whistle>

Won't argue with that, but it wasn't the only dimension to our style of play. You don't win multiple titles and trophies just by hoofing it long.

Chelsea played 432 long balls; United 529: by far the most hoofing out of the Big 5.

The reason why United are so boring is not just the long balls, it is the constant sideways passing. The players are so scared of upsetting Butthead they won't risk vertical passes
