If he buys villa he could ad the points both teams will get up and still not get 70 for CL

    but a real comment is:

he's no got a clue cos players deserving such fees won't join and he'll do a qpr!

Lerner's main mistake was trusting O'Neil to invest wisely and his naivety cost him big time. As MON signed some absolute mince on massive contracts and they failed to make the hallowed ground of the CL. Once he realised the cost of the failed attempt he started to draw the purse strings in, but even now they're still blowing their brains out and whilst I agree that as a club, they've got potential, with the ground, fanbase etc. As a current proposition @ £200m they look a dud to me.

Sorry lads I disagree with you. With careful executive management and a long term strategy ie 2-3 mid table before considering anything else, I believe that new owners could have themselves a powerful and profitable club. Outside of London they have the largest and a highly wealthy hinterland to draw upon and their local opposition is only a maginal draw away from them. The prospects there are rosy.

Now if you want to reflect upon an owner who is going well beyond walking before he can run then look no further than Leicester. Their owner a Thai billionaire has said that he's prepared to spend £100 million on players and get Leicester into the CL inside 3 years. Now that looks like a train rushing towards the buffers to me.

sounds like they may take a similar route to qpr just full of mercenaries and not enough talent maybe.

£100 mill? when utd are spending £200 mill just to get back in top 4 <whistle>

that is a good point, i don't dispute it... BUT... it is never going to happen as you are taling sensibly and owning football clubs and investing is by definition only for the quick buck merchant or the crazy.

i don't agree with tobes so much as mon bought players and sold for profits in quite a few cases however he did have a bad style and a straght jacket and wanted every more donkeys

also he was going for cl... with lfc, chelsea, utd arsenal and even everton so he was always up against it... spurs spent more on rubbish in the past two years and got nowhere near!

    freidal
    cuellar dunne collins warnock
    downing milner reo-coker petrov young
    agbonlahor

just as an example of his side.... villa sold his trash like downing young and milner for what 50-60 mil total?

he did bring in the carews and such too... but one thing is the kids like Delfouneso, Delph, Albrighton also came through there...

all in all villa went backwards due to decisions by old randy and frankly i coont see them getting back up to 5th-6th even with say an fsg style owner.

I don't think Leicester themselves are a threat to position to us. £100mill could make them upper-mid table if they spend it wisely.

What is a threat is that the more QPRs and Leicesters the world produces (on top of all the Chelsea, City, PSG, Real Madrids)- it's going to add more and more inflationary pressure on the price of top quality players. That means more competition and lack of ability for clubs like ours that don't have a sugar daddy to sign good players.

Leicester won't overtake us in the table (most likely) - but they could make it impossible for us to compete with Chelsea and City effectively.

look honestly any club that comes up in theory has access to 100mil transfer budget.

    eg.

    my books balance in championship

i get 70mil from prem tv if i get 20th
i get 3 years parachute payments.

I can certainly see why a club might gamble.

norwich is a good lesson.... spend it wisely!

cardiff are a great example. the gobshite owner sacked mackay cos he really wanted to pocket all the tv money when mckay was telling the fans he wanted 3 more players...

look at southampton for the ideal example in my mind... why spend 200 mil on villa when a club in trouble can be picked up damn cheap (with stadium built!!!) and a wee bit of investment brings it to the prem and then you splash the bigger money

Lerner has backed the current manager to the tune of £40m in 2 seasons, he's just bought some absolute ****e - as did MON btw, as Downing (lol) and Milner apart his buys were absolute toilet. He over paid and put them on daft contracts, largely for players with no residual value, it was crap business.

    Blackpool is the best example.

Spend **** all of it on players and wages, instead slide it out the back door and buy beak, whores and helicopters <ok>

Which is why I said villa fans beware some chicken farmers might buy you, sell a few players pocket the TV money then sell up and make a big profit while the fans end up in league 1

The rules that allowed a criminal buy Leeds having been refused show that it's a total lottery out there
