They used all the time up interviewing Rooney on whether he called the current manager "Ryan" or "Giggsy" or "gaffer"

What would be the point if he didn`t even ask for a foul but instead continued to try to score. Surely Suarez has shown you how it should be done if you wish to fake it?

You see this aside is annoying....you've seen Suarez get kicked and try and go on more than once to the point he set up a goal despite being brought down twice...and yes I've seen him go down under the slightest contact...

    And that's the problem.

I bet we'd both agree that if we had a choice neither Suarez last penalty or Welbecks today would be one.....

But unfortunately they are both now considered penalties because there was "contact"....so if a player gets no reward for being honest and missing under "advantage" but can win the game by flopping under a breeze and getting a penalty are we really going to criticize them?

We all look silly when we say one is because it's our own......

I agree with most of this, the most important point you make here is if a player doen`t scream for a penalty then the decission is down to the ref and no fault can be placed on the player (any player) for trying to continue to play on.

So refs are only allowed to give penalties if players appeal for it? <doh>

There was contact so he went down, I dont blame him as loads of of others would have done the same but dont come on here and try to chat **** about how it was blatant pen etc

But that's it: don't scream, don't roll around there's a big chance you'll get nothing...even if you got mauled.

That encourages the melodramatics but then it's tempting to do it when you aren't hacked...It's sad that the price of supposedly removing the hatchet man is introducing the dive or more accurately the simulation but then what's even more sad is that we've come to a point where half the refs tolerate the hatchet, ignoring the foul and the other half are so gutless they'll award whatever the player demands.

How about we stop pointing out each others dives and start insisting that the ref just calls what he sees, using advantage for the guy who stays standing but has the balls to award the penalty if the contact stops the proper shot or pass.?

Won't happen sadly and we''ll all keep pointing s the opposition actor ignoring our own.

1 No, i am saying a player who does not ask for a foul is usually not trying to cheat, not every player who loses control of the ball or slips is trying to con the ref.
2 There was a pull on Welbecks wrist (a bit more than mere contact) but the reason he "went down" was becaues he lost his footing. He didn`t ask for a foul but the ref having seen the pull gave it.

It was a blatant pen and the norwich player wad lucky not to see red.

Im glad he didnt get sent off though as his team mates fuvked him over but by the law of the game he should have gone.

Or are we now at the stage where we think ryan Giggs runs the FA?

Its really hard to keep up with some of the delusion on here you know.

Back in the day we didn`t have the super slowmo, 40 different camera angles we have now and refs decissions were accepted because they were much closer to the action than we were. Refs have a much harder job now because every key moment is picked apart by so called pundits. This also has it`s good points with the fact that blatent "simulation" can be seen but the adverse side can be called when a player gets a reputation from this and then fails to get actual fouls given against them because the ref is scared he has been fooled.
I would ban all the close up, slow motion replays and let the ref`s do their job and accept the fact they are human and will sometimes get it wrong.
