Borini as a free 3rd choice striker is better than Defoe at a cost of giving Spurs about 7 million of our pounds.

I don't agree at all personally.

Defoe scores goals and would be a bargain at 7 mill.

Borini will never be good enough and we cannot rely on him as third choice. Defoe we most definitely could.

In all honesty, I've watched him for a couple of years now and I think he has bags of quality, he got chucked in the deep end last season, playing in an unfamiliar role and still did great. And what a shrewd bit of business sending him out on loan has been, I reckon next season we'll start to see the best of him in a red shirt.

  7. Should whatever prediction you made suffice, would wanting to find it be an attempt to stroke your already overgrown ego? <whistle>

£7m and probably significant wages for someone to hopefully never get a game and with only 1 or 2 seasons in the top flight left, while funding transfers for a top 4 rival. Madness.

  9. Would he want to leave a club he clearly loves because he's not playing football in return for not playing football for us?

I don't disagree with you pal, I think he is absolutely quality but he is still unproven. I wouldn't want to see us pin our hopes on a young unproven player like Suso. Buy someone else that can play in two or three positions (typical BR signing) and then let Suso progress naturally. If he's good enough...

    Again I just cannot agree.

Defoe has loads of goals in him and there is no reason as to why he wouldn't play games. If we continue two upfront then we will need some genuine quality in depth.

    7 mill is nothing nowadays.

    As a comparison:

    Downing: £20 Mill
    Carroll: £35 Mill
    Borini: £9 Mill

Defoe is much better value than then and I honestly believe he would improve our striking options significantly.

  12. We've been strongly linked with Jay Rodriguez who is only 24yrs old, surely a better option than Defoe?

Don't know if you saw, but I said this above:

Would he want to leave a club he clearly loves because he's not playing football in return for not playing football for us?

I agree he probably wouldn't want to move now, but I also said we should have got him last year when it did look as though he was open to a move <ok>

Not convinced on Rodriguez. Havent seen enough of him to be honest.

If you offered me 7 mill for either I'd pick Defoe instantly.

    Neither did Toure <ok>

For 7 mill he might make an exception.

Its unlikely but i'm enjoying the argument <laugh>
