We go again. The Ashes may be staying down under for a little while yet (not really as they never actually leave Lords) but 2-2 sounds better than 2-1 or 3-1. The aim surely is to beat the Aussies so comprehensively that they're actually embarrassed to declare that 'yay, we've retained the Ashes'. Same team. Probable last game for a Goat and a stand in spinner. Bring it on.
I wish the commentators would stop calling it unfortunate when a batsman gets out wafting down the leg side.
Interesting comment on the BBC: James Lowe: Having watched this pitch all season at Surrey (mostly under better overheads), anything over 250 would be great being out in. 280 par for me. 250-7 at tea
Mark Taylor said earlier anything over 250 is decent and 300 and England are definitely on the front foot. I can’t believe Ponting has suggested we might declare if Broad and Jimmy are the batsmen left in. Every run is precious.
Get up towards 300 and you’ve got a score. Don’t think a declaration is necessary as Wood, Woakes and Broad will get themselves out before too long anyway.
