Finely balanced now, couple more wickets and Eng could be in the box seat. Just hope Head and Marsh don't settle, again...
England worked hard to get where they are, feels like honours even though. Woakes has been a revelation this series, great decision to bring him back in.
On this pitch under those conditions I think we may ha e just shaded it tbh, average first innings here in tests is 380+ so if we can skittle the last 2 cheaply then we've done well.
The chattering prattle coming from commentators, summarisers and experts alike, is that because of the weather forecast for the weekend, this is effectively a three day test. I hope that England aren't unduly influenced by this known unknown. Nip them out for another 20 in the morning then bat positively but sensibly. There's no need to go all bish, bash, bosh thinking that we then only have a day to bowl the cheating Convicts out. We don't. Unless the weekend rain is of an apocalyptic deluge level, we're gonna get at least two or three sessions during which we can bat hard to level the series.
Woakes had Hazelwood caught in the slips in the second over but it was called a no ball. Watch 'em put on 50 for this last wicket now
My take on the game situation. We need to bat well( state the obvious), exceed the Aussie total by at least 100 and do it quickly. Any thing less and the Ashes are gone. If we’re pretty much all square after the first innings with 2 1/2 days gone we’ll run out of time due the the amount of rain on the way.
