…and the first one we see is One Day Never. There’s been a big drift in the market for this one. I was talking to the jockey Aemon Luckie earlier and he wasn’t too confident about his chances.

Actual armchair interview in the morning between Rishi and Eamon Luckie

Rishi. Well I’m sitting here with Eamon Luckie, rider of one of the fancied horses running this afternoon. Eamon, you’ve always held this horse in high regard but so far he hasn’t quite lived up to his promise

Eamon. Not me Rishi. The horse is a ****ing donkey

Rishi. (looking at his script) There was some money for him last time out. What went wrong there Eamon?

Eamon. Basterd chucked me off at the first didn’t he

Rishi. Sorry Eamon. But he did win the time before that. What was different about that? Was it the trip, the going?

Eamon. I wasn’t riding the bastard then. Eddie Plankfoot was on him that day

Rishi (struggling to keep the interview going, screws up his scrip and decides to ad lib). Just switching tack for a moment Eamon. Everyone knows you as a dedicated family man. Presumably you get a lot of encouragement from your (if I may say so) very attractive wife.

Eamon. Nah. The bitch ****ed off with Eddie ****ing Plankfoot after he won on this piece of ****. Said he rides much better than I do.

Rishi. I thought you were expecting your first child Eamon.

Eamon. Not mine Rishi.

Rishi. Oh, sorry to hear that Eamon. (pause) Still, you’ve always been a bit of a lady killer. I’m sure you’ll be out there partying and put all that behind you

Eamon. Nah. Those days have gone. I’ve got EDS

Rishi. ((Struggling to get the interview back on track). Cough, Well you’re back on today Eamon. What sort of chance do you give him?

Eamon. I’m not riding him today.

Rishi (confused) Why’s that Eamon?

Eamon. I had my leg amputated yesterday so that’s my riding career finished

Rishi. So sorry to hear that. I’m sure I speak for all racing fans in wishing you the best of luck in the future

They were sitting down Swanny.

Anyway. Sorry about that. After feeding all the horses this morning, I was sipping a nice hot cup of tea watching Racing Review and I heard this so often used phrase "You’ve always held this horse in high regard ....." and my imagination ran riot. Hope you spotted the jockey's name I made up
