Very sad a true gent, did so much for us all

The Janet and John stories will never be bettered on radio , so many times he caused me to stop on the way to work because I was laughing too much to drive

I always remember him for this

When I was growing up his voice was most familiar as my father listened to BBC Radio 2 at breakfast time and it was TW hosting the show.
Not a major figurehead in my life but a prominent "sound" in my early years.

Thanks for that reminder - I'd forgotten all about them!!! <ok>

We have our own Janet (Filipina)and John (Norwegian) here who we make stories up about. They mostly get drunk though, so Janet and John get pissed again is the pinnacle of our endeavours. RIP Sir Terry, supurb entertainer.

Another great entertainer gone. Made the miserable commute into work all the more pleasurable and his interplay with John Marsh, Fran Godfrey and "Deadly" Dedicote was simply sublime.

RIP Terry - one of the greats.

On a slightly different topic, did anyone listen to Radio 1 when Simon Mayo was the DJ back in the early 90s and he used to do his confessions?? I used to drive my daughter to work in those days.

It was a story about a young police cadet at the Met Police training school at Hendon and he was a bit of a joker and always playing pranks etc. The instructors decided to get their own back!!!
The next morning they were due to visit the morgue and one of the instructors said to this trainee, “How do you fancy lying I the morgue and when the rest of the cadets come round, you get up off the slab and scare them?”; “Oh yes!!!” he said with glee. So, as planned the next morning, our prankster was lying in the morgue as planned and after a while he said, “F***ing cold in here, isn’t it?” To which a voice on the next slab replied, “Yes it is!!!” Our prankster was up and out of the morgue as fast as his legs could carry him and was never seen again.
Unbeknown to him, one of the instructors also taught sub aqua, so had been lying in wait in the morgue in his wet suit, so didn’t really feel the cold.

Noooooo!

I can't believe this! No one has a voice like Sir Terry. Janet and John stories were awesome!

Rest in piece Sir Terry. You sir were an absolute legend in every way. I'm actually really sad about this, properly sad.
