Saw him last year at City Hall when they were touring. Great gig but I noted at the time he didn’t look well then. He was sucking the hell out of his vape in between songs. Wouldn’t be surprised if he died as a result of respiratory problems. A terrible loss at such a young age

Rest in peace Terry Hall. If you are from my age group which a lot of you will be...from what I've read online what a lovely decent man he was. I read that he was kidnapped by his teacher and abused. He lived a life of depression...bless him.

I wish I'd had a more open mind about music in my mid-to-late teens, instead of focusing on one particular style/genre.

I was the opposite mate. Got into the police first (reggae/punk) and Ska.
Specials, concrete jungle, too much too young, etc.

Madness, one step beyond,
My girl, night boat to cairo.

The beat, too nice to talk to.
The selector, missing words.
Etc.
Loved the back beat reggae sound, the black/white thing and working class.
Got into the mod revival,
The Jam, say no more ;)
The Chords, Secret affair.
Discovered the original Mod music,
Small faces, the who, the kinks etc.

Hated heavy metal, but love it now.
Iron maiden, AC DC motorhead rainbow etc. :D
I didn't like country and western until I picked up an acoustic guitar :D

Never too late mate ;)
I still find bands/music that passed me by.

Dr feelgood was one i revisited years ago, I remembered them but hadn't appreciated them as much back in the day.
Wilko johnson , what a great guitarist.

The specials drummer John Bradbury died in 2015. RIP

And now Terry Hall, RIP.

He had a **** time as a kid by all accounts, look him up. And was battling demons ever since.
But him and that band did a lot for youth culture and racism of the time.

In an era when being macho, in one way or another, was usual and sometimes vital a softly spoken lad managed to command respect ...

... he seemed to be a mild mannered, slightly effeminate fella, whose talent raised him up to a higher plain.

I love the song choice BTW, class.
