I did two weeks work experience with Steve Braddock and his team back at Highbury in 1990. I had zero interest in grounds keeping, but as an Arsenal nut, the only thing I could think of when I had to do work experience at School was to write to Steve and ask if I could do my placement there. To my utter surprise, he he took me on for a two week placement.

A lovely guy with an absolute dedication to his craft. I remember him getting me to paint the white lines on the pitch, but he wouldn't let me paint the centre line as it was the one where the directors would sit and look across. There was no way whatsoever he was going to risk having anything but an absolute dead straight line down the middle. He took great pride in that pitch being the very best in the league and he won lots of awards for it. RIP Steve.
