David Pipe's Paddy Power Gold Cup winner (and probably unluckiest festival loser when falling 2 out in the Tuesday Handicap chase a couple of years back) has suffered a fatal injury whilst on his summer holidays in a field at Timmy Murphy's.

A very genuine and bold-jumping grey who ran a gallant 4th in this season's Hennessy, and had previously tasted Cheltenham festival glory in the Byrne Group Plate in 2010.

For all the discussion and debate around the Grand National this week, this sad story just confirms how fragile horses can be.

RIP Fella and condolences to David Johnson and the Pipe yard.

I read aboutr it this morning. Very sad indeed and, as you say, further evidence that these things can indeed happen anywhere.

Condolences also to Harry Redknapp and the team at David Nicholls' on the loss of ARRY'S ORSE who collapsed and died from a heart attack at Ripon yesterday.

Good pic wooly, shame to see another tough horse go like that. Gave connections and punters alot of happy memories no doubt.
