Just logged back in and saw this dreadful news. Absolute shock is all I can come up with.

It has just been announced that it is likely that Gary Speed took his own life, which if true makes this even more tragic.
I don't think I've been saddened and shocked like this since Terry Yorath's boy died, I'm truly feeling for his dear family, and friends. It always struck me that he never seemed a real happy soul, we lose a great player, and potentially a great manager, you can't put a price on happiness, rest in peace Garry, you are in our thoughts!................. 
We are shocked and we only knew of him.
Imagine how the Welsh Internationals and some of his mates who may play today feel, this is going to be a very difficult time for Welsh football and not only today probably for months

R.I.P Gary Speed , condolences to his family and friends , feel numb dont know what else to say a very sad day indeed.
Another sad testament to the fragility of the path we walk. I always looked at him as someone who had everything; the looks, the skills and the professional recognition, and he was a very likeable man. It just goes to show how wrong we can be when we just look at the veneer. I'm so sad that there was something in his life that drove to this (and I don't need the press vultures to find out), and devastated that he had to leave us in such a lonely way.
Rest in peace now Gary - your pain is over, and thank you for enriching our lives.

Just heard the news, absolutely stunned. RIP Gary Speed my sympathies are with his wife and 2 children.
Read the Telegraph statement as the moment of silence / tribute started. Stunned and shaken at the tragedy. Condolences to his family. What could provoke this; what coud not be dealt with / resolved to take this step. So very sad!
No doubt there will be paper talk , but its pointless to speculate . Humans are fragile no matter what their profession, lets just hope he has found peace.
