Manchester United supporter in peace....absolutely gutted regarding Gary Speed. I still cant believe it. Today I will not be discussing the beautiful game because its totally insignificant. A fantastic player and a brilliant human being. God Bless and rest in peace

re: the silence > applause at the Liberty Stadium

A point that may be missed here was the whole of the Liberty Stadium was already silent for whole
minutes before the tannoy announcer ran through Gary's career and announced the official whistle blown
silence whereupon a groundswelling of applause was complimented by a deep corus of welsh song.

I'd like to think the applause by a predominantly Welsh crowd was totally in keeping for Gary than a
minute's silence. These days, tragic natural events at the other side of world etc have a silence but you
rarely see a rousing applause ending in cheers/song.

Grimsby Town fan here in peace obviously, horrible news today, I made the mistake of reading the thread on general chat and saw what some c*nts on here were saying, joking about it, hope they get theirs one day, its a sad day, Speed was a household name, never the most spectacular player but genuinely seemed likeable and was doing hell of a job with the Welsh national team.

After reading about Robert Enke in the past its easy to see some people in the limelight often have their troubles overlooked, and this is what happens, hope someone finally shines the light on depression within sports and stops anything like this from happening ever again.

Very well said! <ok>

Hopefully something more is done by FIFA, to help players who may be suffering from depression. Something needs to be done, before anything this tragic can happen again.

Awful day. For me this has been the saddest day since Sir Bobby passed away.

Just joined today not606 today to comment on this news. I'm not ashamed to say that my wife and I shed a few tears today for someone we didn't know but admired greatly! A true legend of the modern game. Gutted. Perhaps rather spookily my 2 year old son woke up this morning and asked to wear his toon top...he never did that before.

Absolutely disgusting post by that whore.

Can't believe she doesn't get a ban for that.

It does just seem to be a meeting place for absolute twats, you would expect some maturity, but everyones hiding behind a username as per usual trying to get their kicks while being disgusting human beings. Just got round to watching the Savage interview on the previous page, along with seeing the appreciation before the Swansea against Aston Villa game, was brilliant to hear the fans singing his name, much better than a silence, and great support all around.

Welcome to the board <ok> Shame the atmosphere, and the circumstances of your first post arent different.

Ive shed a few tears myself today, like alot of people. Shows the power of the man, you didnt even have to know him, to feel gutted.

General chat should be gone. Its full of sick delusional idiots who hide behind screen names to be internet tough guys. And they most likely have no friends, are social outcasts and will be living with their parents till the age of 45.
