I'm shocked, totally shocked, football has lost a great man. I remember everytime we had a corner I felt that Gary would power in a header.

RIP Gary Speed!

I think I remember his goal against Spurs with most fondness - the ball broke away to the edge of the box and he just slammed it in at the Leazes end. Not sure why I remember it so clearly, it just sticks out.

It's settled, I'm going to get the third kit for Saturday.

Don't know whether I should get something like RIP Speedo or just Speed 11 printed on the back.

Someone tweeted this :

"The rumour is that the tabloids were about to release a story that would destroy him. I feel stunned by this news". Hope that's not true.

If this is true I really think people should boycott the papers, they're supposed to be for news and not scandal. Unfortunate events like this wouldn't happen if peoples personal lives were getting out in the public.

RIP

People don't buy red tops (+daily mail) for news though, they buy them for that scandal and to be outraged at nothing. Anyone with half a brain has already boycotted most 'news'papers.

Does seem a drastic decision given the fact he was on Football Focus yesterday morning and doesn't seem the Depressive type.

Who knows. Im sure Twitter trolls will create everything that can be thought of......

RIP lad. #11

Very much this!

I'am sick to death of the Tabloids printing stories about people's personal lives, simply to humiliate, and make money.

I disagree. If it was Rooney, etc, and it was withheld people, you included, would be complaining about it. It's just a series of unfortunate events (if that rumour is true)

Why should anyone care about what celebrities get up to in private? Max Mosley's son killed himself after the revelations about his father.
The press should not be allowed to print stuff that is clearly private and does not affect someone's ability to perform their job.
If it is illegal, or if it is a clear breach of trust and/or corruption, then they should be allowed to print it. The cricketers, for instance.
Anything else, no-go. And I suspect that even though in this case we may never know it will have been the latter.

The depressed people are always the ones you least expect.

I don't care personally, but a lot of people do. I said I disagreed, but really I don't have a massive opinion on it. I can see both sides of view. Either way, it's tragic that people end up seeing no other options than to end it all

Wasnt there a picture posted on here, of Speed and Lawro watching footy together yesterday?
