Couldn't agree more. Felt numb when I heard the news. It's amazing how the death of someone you don't know can affect you.

I didn't agree with the minute's clapping at Swansea. Silence would've been more appropriate considering it happened less than six hours before kick-off and the way it happened.

I'm not ashamed to say I shed a tear. A true great.

It was a minute's silence that was called, but the fans turned it into a minute's applause in a totally non-disrespectful and actually very tributary way.

Gary was a magnificent person, bright, fun and a wonderful family man - he lit up every room he walked into. I am proud to have been
his friend and will miss him dreadfully.

What makes this all the more shocking is that anyone who tuned into BBC's Football Focus yesterday would have seen Speedy sat next to Gary McAllister in the studio talking about the good old days with Leeds plus also the future of Wales. He mentioned the tough group they were in and spoke of the decent future ahead for Welsh football. Nobody watching him yesterday would have any idea what was to come. Absolutely shocking.

On a personal note, I took part in a charity match 10 years ago through www.footballaid.com at St James' Park and I had myself the NUFC No.11 shirt as you lined up to play for 'Newcastle' to live the dream, as they put it. You sat in the home dressing room before the game with your name on the back of the shirt and as I looked around and sat in my place I said the words, "Speedy sits here". That signed shirt (by Beardsley) takes on a new significance for myself now.

RIP Gary Speed.

Very shocking news and very unexpected considering he was on Football Focus just yesterday morning/afternoon.

He was in the team the first time I really started following the Toon and always struck me as a great professional.

I'm trying to find the correct words on how to describe my feelings, but i'm struggling to even accept this tragic news. He was a player that i had the privellage to grow up watching, he wasn't all about the money, women and fame that came with being a professional footballer, he just enjoyed this beautiful sport that we all love.

R.I.P Speedo. Gone but never forgotten. <rose>

I'm completely lost for words. :(

I idolised him as a kid more than I did Shearer, and seeing him on Football Focus I couldn't help but think he would make a great manager of NUFC in the future.

Absolutely gutted.

R.I.P Gary, you will forever be a legend <rose>

****ing disgraceful fanbase with such people in it! Those City fans should be ashamed.
