I'm not going to be there so I don't have any say in it but just as an outsider it would be great if there would be tributes to him against Chelsea, maybe a few banners.

Still can't get my head around this. Pretty much ruined my year. One of my favourite NUFC players ever, model pro, everything you would want in a footballer. Seemed to be doing a stirling job as Wales manager as well. Just horrible.

Whatever the result, we should give him a proper send off when we play Chelsea.

I'm expecting a lot of "There's only one Gary Speed" chants.

Brilliant player, such a shame. Thoughts go to his family and friends, RIP Gary Speed.

Hopefully there will be something done in his honour on Saturday.

I wonder what it will be like at the Swansea game?

No doubt there will be a tribute at Anfield today. Not sure if Craig Bellamy will play now as Speed was his head coach for Wales, but I'm sure Dalglish who brought Speed to Newcastle will send his condolences.

**** me I bet the wind was the issue.

Loved him he was a great pro and to be honest a very very good player. One of the best the permier league has ever had.

While i agree he was a great player, i think it's a bit of an overstatement saying he was one of the best the prem ever saw, however he was deffinately up there was the best proffesional to play in the prem, top quality bloke.

His death will sadden alot of people.

Sad news. Was a model pro. Never met him but seemed a really decent man. Thoughts to his family who must be devastated.

R.I.P.

Absolutely tragic news; it's difficult to comprehend or add to all the previous comments.

I too saw him coming back to St James' in a managerial role - there cannot be many ambassadors of the club like him who had such a profound effect on our recent past. Shearer must be totally gutted as they were close friends; even shared ownership of a racehorse once IIRC.

RIP Gary Speed

The best centre mid in my life time at Newcastle. I'm absolutely devastated and just can't believe it.

RIP Gary Speed.
