The former Tottenham, Southampton and England striker Martin Chivers has died at the age of 80. Chivers, a League Cup and Uefa Cup winner with Spurs, won 24 caps from 1971 to 1973.
He had a hotel in the next village to me and we went to look at it 40 years ago as a possible reception option. Martin greeted us but quickly handed over to his wife Julia. I have seen him out and about numerous times and he's the sort of guy who is always happy to say hello.

So sad...he was a great manager for us the first time but it didnt work out the second time. Socialised with him when he was with us in Swansea...nice person and some stories....RIP

I knew Mike for over 30 years when his son came to play for the team that I ran from U8 to U14.
Mike, his wife Lyn and sons were season ticket holders for many years and were regulars at away matches - I often saw their photos in the Travelling Jacks Gallery posted on the club’s website.
