W9 i can't disagree with your point. If he leaves Utd his wages will deffo fall. He is a superb defender and of course he would be a great addition but considering that our team and squad are still light on quality/quantity i would prefer to see two or more defenders come in for the same money. I think even at 33 there will be a lot of interest in him if he became available.
Guys this is just an idea that popped into my head when I saw the SSN story - not even 'speculation', so don't get your hopes up. Still, of any of you Tweeters wants to put the idea into TFs head, feel free.....
If we could get him in Jan he could be the difference in staying up. Agreed would like two more defenders mind you. Ridgewell and bassong for me as both can slot in at FB if needed.
Last week I heard that he is coming to us in Jan. No joke. Apparently he wants to link up with his brother for the last stint of his career. Also Rio used to come to QPR to watch Les play when he was younger and has a big soft spot for the club. He could get a bigger contract elsewhere but does he need the money? I doubt it very much. I think we could pay him £50k to £60k a week with a 2 year contract and he will bite our hand off. I can see it happening.
If Rio does come here then clearly I have some kind of special powers ( match result predictions excepted) I will now start equally pie in the sky threads about Messi, Iniesta and Van Persie. Can't do any harm can it?
SB73- can you Start threads on Earth, Wind and Fire as the front 3 and maybe the 4 riders of the apocalypse as the back 4. Thats the start of my dream team !
NUTS...I think you must be nuts!! You'd prefer two defenders instead of Rio Ferdinand!!? Are you insane? If we had Rio, we wouldn't need another one would we. 2 other defenders wouldn't equal Rio would they?
I like DTs point - we need a leader at the back. Ant and Gab are good lads but who is the boss, organising the back line. I suspect it's Paddy at the moment........
