Deep breath's Jip, deep breaths.

Firstly, people do take football far too seriously but I'd say the majority of us Chelsea fans on this forum are a reasonable enough bunch who wouldn't send death threats to people because of incidents on the pitch.

Secondly, I was referring to Berkampspilot when I say 'let's not stoop to his level', not you son.

And finally, Rio Ferdinand, in my opinion of course, is equally as 'scummy' as our very own John Terry, it just so happens that Sir Rio plays for the most arse-licked glorified team in Europe and therefore isn't lambasted as much as JT. They've both cheated, both acted like numbskulls on the field and both done things that aren't morally acceptable in society today, at least our John has a few more braincells to not create a Twitter account and broadcast his 'feelings' on it.

And I'm sure none of you are demented enough to send bullets or whatever, I was just making a point that some people take football far too seriously. So without knowing the OP, there's no way I'd know whether he was one of them or not.

I agree Ferdinand is no saint, but I don't think he's in the same league as JT. He's never ****ed his best mate's missus for a start, mocked Americans following 9/11, taken money to take people on tours of Carrington (when he's already a multi-millionaire), hogged the limelight after a final his teammates won (in spite of him being suspended by acting like an idiot), or racially abused anyone.

With exception to the racial abuse, the things you've mentioned are either false or trivial. For starters, he ALLEGEDLY slept with his best friends EX missus, not condoning it but it's not an uncommon thing. He never mocked any Americans regarding 9/11, the players there were in the wrong place at the wrong time and what happened was simply a lack of respect. The tours and the kit wearing finals are nothing compared to dodging drug tests, blasting balls at your own fans, kicking stewards, acting extremely unprofessionally whilst a very serious trial/accusation is taking place. Oh, and Ferdinand has also cheated on his missus.
 
Truth is, people (including myself) let propaganda take over all sense of ration and logic, football is a religion to most and we'll defend our own players till the bitter end and take any opportunity to aim and fire at our rivals' players. I'd actually happily say this particular saga is where I've had my head screwed on most, because of the seriousness of it. I said all along that had JT been proven guilty that I'd wash my hands of him, I'd want him out of my club and lose any modicum of respect I ever had for the bloke, but he wasn't, and after following the trial it was clear to see that the only evidence anybody has of John Terry racially abusing Ferdy is a 5 second clip on youtube WHICH Terry has a plausible excuse for.

No but what he has done is miss a drugs test and lie and claim he forgot (The only player in the history of the game to "forget" a drugs test), he's also cheated on his wife numerous times (it's well documented but his affairs are covered up by the press unlike JT's), he's also used homophobic abuse on live television to insult another man, he's also assaulted a female steward and he's also blasted a ball with full force into an elderly United fan in the Stretford End who was reduced to tears without any apology.

JT hasn't racially abused anyone or ****ed his best mates missis by the way.

Can I add to this, re 'hogging the limelight', Terry's teammates WANTED him up there with them and had said so weeks in advance of the final. You might also note Meireles, Ramires and Ivanovic were also up there (in full kit) despite being suspended. The only reason Terry got any limelight is that opposition fans gave it to him.
 
I thought JT epitomises the Chelsea spirit and as a true leader in the sense of the word quite rightly should have been there to wallow in the success which would be the peak of his career.Any suggestion to the contrary is just bitter jealousy
I would've certainly approved Konpany doing the same

I don't think anyone begrudged the club captain being a part of the celebrations. Dressing up in full kit like some big kid and trying to be in the middle of it all was laughable and he was rightly mocked.

Not particularly. As I said, I don't begrudge him being a part of it as the club's captain. If Keane and Scholes had sprinted to the centre of the pitch in full kit in '99 I, and everyone else, would have found it equally funny.

It wasn't conventional, but we don't strive to follow in the footsteps of Manchester United and their players, we like to do things our own way.
