I went to see Coldplay at the Ricoh Arena last night.

Quite simply stunning. How I wish I could have just popped down to Ashton Vale with 45.000 others and shared such a great night.

And for those wondering how Bristol would benefit from this.

Overnight stay for two in hotel with breakfast £76.50p.

Evening meal at a local restaurant on arrival. £35.00p

Car parking fees. £7.50p overnight stay

Drinks and snacks. £60 approx for 2 of us.

Beer in the venue was £4.50 a bottle, plus a tee shirt. £20

Taxi fares to ground and back £20.

I spent a small fortune in Coventry last night and as you can see that does not even include the tickets. that money could be coming in to our local economy and the first 3 items were a fair few miles away from the ground so its not all about the Ashton area only.

But no, just because of a few (literally) small minded, selfish nimbys.

Hang your heads in shame. You hold back our great City....
 
Yep i know what your talking about, spent loads when i went to Manchester to watch the boxing, this city is just waiting to move forward, there just the odd handful who dont want to move out of there comfort zone, it wouldn't be people from just Bristol coming, it would be the whole south west, our nearest venue is cardiff.... another bloody country, its a joke, this city needs out ground
 
banksy,I have done trade shows in the exhibition centre there in the Ricoh for various companies related to the industrial machinery sector(Hitachi,Ryobi,Barrowmix and Altrad)believe me they attract thousands of visitors from the local and global spectrum,generating enormous income for the local and national economy,these small minded,green,facist,nimby people are depriving Bristol and the surrounding areas and they think they are heroes,they are selfish halfwits..
 
Banksy just got back, and you said exactly the same as me and Mrs about what it would do to the area if AV went ahead.

We stayed in Brum, like you said the whole area benefits. if these protestors take their heads out of their arses and see the whole picture it's not just a football ground it can produce income and employment for all the other stuff.

Wasn't Rita Ora fit as?

Robyn was strangely really fit... I dunno she just had something.

The taxi drivers around there last night have all took their missus out for a pub meal tonight on the back of the previous good nights takings, and so it goes on..
 
Have to be honest, I thought Robyn was ****e sounded like kraftwork were back ;)

But agree with everything else.

Just wish these nimby's could see the whole picture, bet they are complaining about the lack of work in the area when this could change things.
 
I know what you mean, I just found her strangely intriguing. <laugh> and bizarrely enjoyable.

I'm easily pleased though...

Do you think you could hear it properly with all the poor people chatting? :D:D
 
Yeah us poor people heard it properly, just felt inferior to all you lot on your balconies ;)

Was it worth it in hospitality? I sat at the back of the pitch a few rows up. Handy as I had the bar just by me so could see when it was quiet to get a drink then. Plus I could scan the crowd to find other smokers to stand by having a cigarette. Good thing for me is the stewards turned a blind eye to us, but some were smoking different ***s to me ;)

Was impressed by it as a music venue

Hospitality was the only tickets I could get, but we were still a bit away really.

We had a band put on after in the venue and then a disco so had a couple of hours at that and then missed the traffic. easy to get a beer, cushioned seats.

just about worth it, maybe..


Love coldplay, Pirate.. I still listen to radio 1 and talk sport. (that would be a good thread)
 
I have it on good authority the ROD...being a work colleague....is a die-hard x-factor fan and a life long member of the one direction fan club. He even travelled to europe to watch Matt Cardell in concert.......
 
Went to Elland Road to a property auction a few days ago.
Its a big club of course, with a fabulous history which was documented in player pictures all around the Nicky Chapman banquet Room. There was also a copy of the FA cup, which they won a few times and looked stunning.

Of course, my mind did fly back to 1975, and that seminal game that launched our team on an upward march to the top division.
I will never forget that day as long as I live.

City wise, Leeds is a bit shaby in places, but beautifully regenerated in others. The Leeds City Council are one of the country's most forward thinking organisations, and it shows in their developing city. Elsewise, Leeds is reasonably similar to Bristol, about the same population and dimensions. The council's obvious love of and pride in their football team is starkly evident, and sadly that is where the two citys do not share a common ground.
 
was there 2 banksy, luckly for i live 10 miles away, but OMG what a show. Not a massive coldplay fan but the misses got tickets for my birthday. The point of your post is totally correct talking to local Cov fans not a penny from that show goes tooCCFC. If and when ashtonvale is built all that wonga would go to BCFC. We need that sort of stadia in Bristol if nothing else as a major source of income away from football matches. As for Robyn what a nutter was not impressed and how the hell has Rita Ora ever had a no 1 single bloody awful. As for coldplay guys even if your not a fan of their music i promise you will never see a better show. If you get the chance go and watch and enjoy!
 
She probably had a number one thephatone because you only need to sell a few singles now, not like years ago. But good eye candy.
I agree with Robyn thought she was on something.
Coldplay were really good, was worried that I was going to be disappointed because of the things I have read and heard how good they were. Sometimes you get to expect to much, but was not disappointed.

If I knew how would get the nimbys to read what these sort of things do for the community
