Listening to Solent on the way home after the Watford game, I heard them say (or at least i thought I heard them say) that Lambert had just played his 100th league game for us. I didn't think anything of it for a few seconds, and then it suddenly hit me: 100 league games????!!!!!!! Did they definately say league??????

46 games in each of our two seasons in L1, plus the 10 we'd played so far in the Championship (ie all the league games played since Lambert arrived), added up to 102. So Rickie had played 100 out of 102 league games (a figure which has subsquently become 101 out of 103). That is a SENSATIONAL statistic, and hence was why I suddenly so taken aback.

Off the top of my head, he missed the opening day last season vs Plymouth, so that's one of two. I'm not sure what the other was, but presumably it was the game immediately after Plymouth (as he picked up that injury during pre-season).

He's certainly become quite a talisman for the club in such a short space of time - the goals and appearances keep racking up! Quality player, does so much for the team.

He was not signed before the first game of the 09-10 season (I seem to remember his debut being away at Swindon) so I am not convinced.

He joined The friday Just before millwall 2009/10 season! I'm sure his league debut was either Swindon or huddersfield!

One stat I heard today was that Rickie was playing his 400th LEAGUE game tonight against WHU. OK, when you play your entire career in the lower leagues, it's a potential 46 games per season. And his appetite for the game looks as big as ever. If Saints were to be promoted, this season, for one single player, it has to be for Rickie, so that he can realise his dream.

EDIT: If you haven't seen this, read it: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/15338165.stm

I remember that at gillingham away, last game of the season. Lambert did not start the game but was on the bench but don't remember if he came on. It rained ALOT that day.

    But that is some statistic.

    On lambert, class.

Yeah, those jokes are getting old now. They certainly don't have any relevance anymore, that's for sure!

We lost 2-1, but he came on at half time and totally changed the game. We're ucky that he virtually never gets injured. Looking at this season and last, its obvious what a difference a good pre-season can make.

When Saints and Bournemouth went for fitness tests at Solent University, Lambert was the least fit Saints player, although he was fitter than the fittest Bournemouth player.

i love rickie. Legend. Of course he is good enough for the premier league.

At the moment he is easily good enough for england.

I have to agree with my Gas colleagues and all the Saints fans. Lambert: pure class.

That's two of my favourite players of all time that play for the Saints - Lambert and LeTiss....
