Have to say I've actually looked forward to watching an England game again since Lambert got the call. Lets hope it works out well for the bloke. 3 goals tonight :)

If Lambert had pace/wasn't slow he'd get in about 16 of the PL teams - he'd be very similar to Benteke. I think the reason Lambert has lost his form is because the opposition's CBs double team him and doesn't allow him time on the ball, and he doesn't have the quick movement to break away from them so he gets marked out of the game sometimes. I think Rickie's best role is when he comes deeper and now that we've got Osvaldo, I'm hoping we've got someone he can look up and pass to straight away, instead of having to wait for someone to make a run.

Poor man management from Hodgson to describe the decision to play Lambert that way.

Dont think its that bad from hodgson, i took it as meaning hed have had a headache if defoe was playing regularly, but as he isnt then rickie becomes an automatic selection. Very poorly written article tho by a journalist with a clear agenda. Wdnt read much into it

Forget all the negative stuff... This is a great opportunity for Lambert to score some goals for England in a big competitive game

hoping that a Englands manager will only pick players who actually play for thier club, a third choice striker for Spurs should never be included in the squad. I like Defoe, but players must be encouraged to play for teams where they would be part of the first team

Slightly differently to last time, we will actually get to see Rickie walk out with the team and sing (or not), the national anthem.

Hands up anyone who predicted at the start of the season that Rickie would be the main striker for England in a WCQ. Liar, Liar...Pants on Fire.

As normal with England, I'm finding the football really quite dull! Let's hope Lambert can spice things up...

Welbeck suspended, if Sturidge is still not fit for Tuesday I'd say England have very little chance of winning against Ukraine.

Rickie has now played 71 minutes for England. He has two goals and one assist to his name.
