Sadly, the great cricketer and richly voiced commentator Richie Benaud died today. I saw him on the second day of the 1961 Ashes Test Match at Old Trafford. He never lost a series as captain of the Aussies. His commentary was well informed and his voice matched that of John Arlott. He was a true professional as a cricketer and as a commentator. May he rest in peace. I wish footballers and footybcommentators would learn from him.
