I'm not saying he should give a ****.

    I'm saying he's a **** for what he's indirectly done.

I think its the one plus point of his tenure, and he should receive a Knighthood instead of a cash handout.

The Championship is a great League - when you’re winning, and when you are financially viable. Being stuck in it with a bunch of mediocre players still on PL wages, with the daily threat of liquidation hanging over your head, is not so great.

As you say though, the atmosphere in most grounds is a thousand times better than the PL, despite the smaller crowds.

I suppose it depends on whether you think the explosion of TV revenue is a good thing.

    Its very debatable imo.

    Yeah fair points.

Nobody wants to be in Portsmouth/QPR position.

Would Southampton be in trouble if they went down?

In all honestly Portsmouth and QPR are Championship level clubs whereas Southampton should be in the Prem if governed on facilities/size of club.

No that's the conundrum, would prefer not to be in PL but don't really endure the miserable season.

Which is why i said I can't wait until it happens (which it will eventually anyway) rather than I hope.

In the meantime all I can do is keep supporting the lads and potentially abusing Sam.

It's disgraceful but nothing shocks me now when it comes to greed at the top of any organisation these days.

It depends on how you view International football, I personally cannot stand it and would gladly see the back of it.
Am not an England fan whatsoever.
I would get the same amount of joy from watching England win the world cup as I would from watching West Brom win the FA Cup, ie..........

If the business next door is your own businesses number one supplier and provider of services, you probably should be concerned. In the same way that supermarkets probably should give a **** about farmers, but behave as if they don’t, the PL really should regard the FA as partners, rather than a resource to be ruthlessly exploited.

    Really?

I don't watch our friendlies but I do major tournaments.

And whilst it has been largely excruciating the past 15 years I absolutely loved this summer.

Had a great time with friends singing, drinking and enjoying the atmosphere.

    Loved it.

The country felt alive and people were happy.

But the FA isnt the PL's number one supplier of services, its the other way around, the FA steal all the PL clubs players every month, pay them **** all, bring them back exhausted and injured and for what?
All of the FA United (England) players are stolen labour from PL clubs.

    A little dramatic no?
The Sun cared, and so did social media, most people didnt give a rats ass and was just annoyed that the World Cup matches meant that Eastenders and Corrie got cancelled <laugh>
Thats the one thing I do love about the World Cup, it means I dont have to endure the wife watching endless ****ty soaps all night

I don’t know how much trouble we’d be in tbh, I don’t pay that much attention to studying our finances or anyone else’s.

People who know more about that stuff than me say we are probably not financially in strong enough shape to withstand relegation. I don’t know if that’s true or not, but I do know we went bust and ended up in League One just a few years ago. Then again, that led directly to the most enjoyable run in my Saints supporting life, so I kind of see where @The Liebherr Legacy is coming from.

    I don't think so.

Naturally people who are not interested in football probably moaned!

Majority of people I know were at least pleased.

For me 11 of us went out to watch the game against Sweden in Brighton from midday and the place was absolutely buzzing, heaving and alive.

After the result the main road down to the sea was totally full of people dancing and celebrating with the place at a standstill.

    Was class.

Along with the lush weather it was great.

I don't doubt that Scudamore has done a decent job during his time in the PL, but asking the clubs (ie the fans) to pay for his £5m bonus is a ****ing piss take. As Bod points out, why don't his employers pay it if they think he's been worth it ? I'm sure the Premier League turns a healthy profit each year.

It's like a Company CEO leaving and the shop floor workers being asked to donate some of their wages to give an already well off man an extra pot of cash. It stinks.

The FA is the governing body for all of English football, not just the national team. Everything from Sunday League to the FA Cup is managed by the FA.

If the PL ceased operating tomorrow, football would still continue in this country. In fact in many ways the PL would barely be missed. If the FA stopped operating, it would be chaos, there’d be no leagues, no referees, no one to oversee the laws of the game...

    Yeah I do too.

Big risk of doing a Leeds though. Parachute payments only last for a 3 year period.

Then you're one of a large number scrapping it out but with Southampton's academy you'd like to think you could either finance players by selling them or alternatively using them as a nucleus to get back up.
